About
Our classes are offered as a view into a typical Tuscan cuisine. Classes are small and intimate. First step: grocery shopping at the central market!! You will go shopping with the chef at the central market picking up the ingredients for your lunch. You will meet the butchers, the bakers, and the farmers selling vegetables from their gardens. You will learn how to distinguish the highest quality ingredients and as an added bonus, how to bargain! You will taste local foods & wines. After this fun experience you will reach the house and start the lessons in a private kitchen. A true hands-on experience, and you will prepare your own meal, made of Bruschetta, Fresh Home-made Pasta, and a main course, accompanied with a selection of Chianti wines. As you will eat your own food, you’d better be an attentive student while the Chef is teaching!

The highlight of our trip
Jan 2020
My husband and I are always a bit skeptical of doing any sort of excursion/activity on our trips but I really wanted to take a cooking class while we were in Italy. I had found this place online and the woman at our hotel recommended it. We booked and payed online very easily the night before (in January) and had no problem getting in. Our group was only 6 people and because of that I think it was more enjoyable. You start off by meeting your instructor/chef - ours was Marco and he was AMAZING.

Then you walk over to the marketplace and Marco walks you through the market. We stopped at the fishmarket and he explained some things, then to the cheeses and cured meats where you sample some incredible boards, then to pick up your meat. After you have those you go to the cooking school and get to work. Marco was awesome at explaining why he was doing certain things and what to look for while cooking the dishes. Individually you work on your own dough and learn what to look for. You also work on the tiramisu. While some f the stuff is cooking you sit down and enjoy wine and more cheese. Then, you get back to your pasta and lunch is practically served! The food was FABULOUS. We are pretty conservative by saying we had a fabulous meal but truly, the pasta dishes were the best we had the entire trip and the tiramisu was the best I've ever had in my life. I couldn't stop eating.

It certainly helped that Marco was a fabulous guide - honest, funny, knowledgable, and personable. I cannot recommend this place enough, if you are in Florence you should absolutely take part of your day to do this. We can't wait to make our dishes at home (even though I'm sure our American ingredients won't be nearly as good!!)

Best experience ever
Dec 2019 • Family
This was a great experience. We could’ve skipped the marketplace in the morning but the cooking and endless wine drinking was fantastic. It was so satisfying making our pasta from scratch and seeing how to make 2 kinds of sauces. It was a ton of fun and my teenagers loved it. They can’t wait to get home and cook a meal!

Excellent Food and Very Funny!
Sep 2019
There have been a lot of well-deserved, excellent reviews of this tour already - Catarina taking us to the San Lorenzo market to sample a number of meats and cheeses, the group watching the making of the Bolognese sauce and the fresh tomato sauces, the donning of the aprons to make our own tagliatelle, ravioli and tiramisu, the sampling of the appys that John and Catarina provided. However, one of the most enjoyable aspects of this tour for me was the sense of humour that Catarina, John and the fellow at the deli in the market all exhibited during our tour. They were all so funny one couldn't help but enjoy! The food we prepared was delicious, and I no longer use any machines when making my pasta at home. As others have already said, this is a 'must do' when you are in Florence.

A MUST DO!
Dec 2019 • Couples
My significant other will appease me when I want to do cooking classes while in another country. This class was enjoyable! We met at a location that was very easy to find with their detailed description.

We met our chef there, who took us to the market to show us around and teach us about some of the market trades. Then we did a cheese tasting.

After cheese tasting, we walked over to where the classes are held. The class is very organized with the order in which courses are made. Our chef was entertaining, made jokes and was also supportive and friendly.

We had such a great time with our classmates too because of the level of involvement.

My significant other thoroughly enjoyed the class and we both can not wait to show our friends and families what we learned!

Absolutely brilliant.....

Catarina and John were superb. The market was such an eye-opener followed by some unforgettable and essential cooking tips I’ll always use. We ate our ravioli and tagliatelle with divine sauces we’d help make, followed by our tiramisu. All of this was washed down with chianti. The day started at 9am and finished around 2.30pm - perfect! We booked through Viator but book direct through Florence town for discounts.

I can’t say enough good things about this experience!! I’m still at the beginning of my trip, but this is sure to be among the highlights. Our chefs were John (perhaps Gianni?) and Nicolò. They had engaging personalities and a wealth of knowledge. Everything, from the market tour to the demonstrations to the cooking to the tasting, was perfect. And the food we made was delicious! This is an absolute must-do when you’re in Florence.

Fun and Relaxing!

We loved taking this tour. We met with Jon in the Piazza and walked 10 minutes to the San Lorenzo market to sample cheeses and meats. Afterwards, we stayed at the cooking school to watch the chef Caterina make Bolognese sauce and pomodoro sauce. We put on the aprons at the school and got to make the tiramisu and fresh pasta dough. During the cooking, we received wine and water. The Bolognese and pomodoro were delicious. Highly recommend!!

Cooking class in Florence
Jul 2019 • Couples
This tour was better than we expected. We met our group in the designated Piazza. We checked in and one of the cooks, Giuseppe, took our group through the streets of Florence to the Central Market. Here we tasted several cheeses and cured meats. We then made our way to the kitchen where we the 6 of us were seated at our table. The head chef Alain was very entertaining as he prepared the bolgnaise sauce and a Pomodoro sauce. We then each made our own Tarimasu and pasta dough. While we waited for dough to rest we were given cheese and assorted breads and wine. We made ravioli and pasta which was delicious. We had a great time and would recommend this tour.

You learn the simplicity behind Italian cooking!
Jul 2019 • Couples
You start off with a trip to the Local market or are you a sample and assortment of meats and cheeses. It’s a very short distance to the market and also to their kitchen and cooking location. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! We made ravioli, tiramisu and also watch them cook our main course. The facility was very clean and comfortable, we had plenty of water and wine to drink. Alain Liggia and Giuseppe were great teachers with a wonderful sense of humor.
