Taormina’s main street (Umberto) has gates on both ends. The gates are great references to where you are and where the centre starts/ends and offer great scenery!

stop for a short visit while waiting for local bus, to our surprise the food was more than we expected along with the wait staff and owner. We will return when we have more time great location for people watching as the main bus service...More

Not quite as imposing as its counterpart at the other end of the street but nice enough and gives a sense of entrance to Corsa Umberto.

An impressive arch I got the old centre of Taormina leading to Corso Umberto. Walk all the way down to Porta Catania at the other end!

This is the gate at the eastern end of the main pedestrianised Corso Umberto. You could easily walk through without even noticing it. Don't make a special visit, but take a quick look as you stroll along the Corso.

We really liked all the arched fortifications entrances along the main street. This one is at entrance to city near visitor center and church plaza.

Back in the days this was the port that lead into Messina and the other into Catania. Located at the end of the walking street, where shops and restaurants are located. If one is confused re where to meet, this is a good landmark. Taxis,...More

This ancient gateway marks the entrance to lovely old Taormina and all it has to offer. Sit a few feet away on the main road and look through the gateway for lovely views.
