Unique among the churches in Taormina, this one is built on the remains of a 2nd or 3rd century BC Egyptian temple to Isis and Serapis. It's small, but the beautiful multi-colored alter with gold and silver inlays is worth your time. Frescoes too. The church was built in the 18th century Baroque style. Gave me chills to realize it... Main feature of the church is the popularity, at least from what I could see, to get married there. For the rest: nice, but not worth a detour.

This church is lovely and definitely worth the visit. I does not look like much from the outside but the northern wall is built on ancient greek ruins and the courtyard has wonderful views through the ivy covered arches. The church also has a lot of beautiful marble inside and was one of my favourite sites in Taormina.

Beautiful old church on the edge of the main walking district. Well preserved and still functional today.

It's a church. And not an overly impressive church compared to most of the ones in europe. But if you are exploring Taormina you can always pop in and take a look.

Departing from the Porta Messina gate and walking down the hill (watch out for the cars!!), the Church of San Pancrazio commands your attention. The gate to the courtyard and to the church proper are often locked. Still, the visible flank of the church offers one a view of the lower courses of a Classically-designed temple which was once home... More

Very cute ancient church dedicated to the patron saint of Taormina, not easy to find it open (try in the mornings) and check out the Ancient Greek ruins just in front.
