I did not know anything about this church before I went. There is no admission charge, and no photography allowed. It is sparse, and the art at the front does not fit what you usually think of - in fact, out of place. However, it...More

I enjoyed stopping in this church. There were no pews, so you could walk around and appreciate the space, and of course the Carravagio behind the altar.

Free entry. Caravaggio painting but difficult to see well, poor lighting and couldn’t get close enough really. Painting was done for another church so doesn’t fit well.

Inside this beautiful small church at one end of the magnificent Piazza Duomo you will find Caravaggio's painting "The Burial of Saint Lucy." Definitely worth a stop.

The Church of Santa Lucia alla Badia is located towards the end of Duomo Square, and just a very short distance from the Cathedral. We stood outside the church admiring it with its intricate wrought iron balcony, took photographs, and could now actually kick ourselves...More

We came to see the Caravaggio and were not disappointed. This church is beside the Duomo which seems to get many more visitors. But this is the one to see

This small and lovely church is very important since it's built on a place where it's believed St Lucia died and was burried. Also, it houses picture of Death of St Lucia, made by Caravaggio, very famous and genius artist. No photography is allowed inside...More

One would think the Catholic Church has enough money but still they charge admission. I guess you are paying to see the paintings by Caravaggio.

If you like to see paintings by Caravaggio, his portrayal of the death of Santa Lucia is here. A vary large canvas, most of which is black and showing signs of having been done in a hurry, does not show well in the dim light...More

I don't think so. The church is basically being used as a museum. You can go to mass right next door at the Cathedral.

I was just in Syracuse, and this church is open from 11-4, Tuesday - Sunday. I know this because I got there at 4 on Sunday ... just as they were closing the doors!
