As other reviewers have stated, it is possible to reach the main trail (which has been closed since 2014) by entering through a smaller trail which is connected to the main one. We didn't go further, but even on the starting point of the canyon,...More

Easy to find via the sat nav although the roads are winding up the mountain with very tight turns. There's a car park at the top which was free but there's no facilities. The main track way is closed but you'll find a broken fence...More

Quite a winding road to get here! Most will walk either the escarpemt or the trail down the to river and the bathing pools. Just lovely to walk amongst wild flowers.

Great walk down to this secret hideaway. Spectacular views also. The was a little cold for us in October but didn't stop us. I would go here again if i went back.

Ignore the sign that says the walk is unsafe. It's a perfectly normal hike (although a stiff descend/climb) for anyone with a normal constitution.

If you like hiking, this is a place for you. Don’t come here in July or August, it would be simply too much tourists. It will ruin your experience. Even in mid-October there were several dozen hikers, and this is not very huge place… Take...More

If you are not willing to hike down and then up the mountain again to experience this little wet paradise in the dry Sicily. Then don't!! My girlfriend and I loved it, the ice cold fresh mountain water, the crystal clear pools, hot stones and...More

Cavagrande is a canyon with natural pools at the bottom. Despite being 'closed' since 2014, due to loose boulders, this doesn't deter the crowds of tourist and locals visiting the attraction (or the car park attendant or restaurant owner!) The drive is over a twisty...More

Response from Brandon S |
I wouldn't plan on it. Public transportation here is rather spotty.
I would like to visit by publice transport in June. Is this possible? We are spending time in Noto and Siracuse, would one be a better starting point?

Looking for car sharing from Avola to cavagrande. Dear fellow travelers we are two girls traveling in Sicily for two weeks. Neither of us know how to drive. We thought we could use the public transport most of the time, but it have been a disaster. For example we are staying in Avola now and want to go to cava grande but no possible way. So we are looking for any travelers rent car around here and we could share costs for the trip. From Avola to cavagrande.
