Don't usually go for guided tours, but thought we would on this, and really glad we did. Had a great English speaking guide that took us around the whole opera house and explained things you would never had know such as the river running underneath and why ! The tour lasted and hour that just whizzed by. really worth while.

This imposing edifice is located in a nice piazza flanked by places to eat or drink or just relax. s it was out of season, we couldn't go inside. Too bad. But still, glad we visited.

The acoustics are fantastic and it is well worth making an effort to get a ticket to a concert if there is one on when you are in the city. One could only buy tickets through the box office for the performance that we went to see/listen to. . ie not on line. Purchasing on the morning of the performance... More

This was my first visit to a European opera house, and Bellini did not disappoint. The theater was beautiful inside and out. Acoustics were excellent. I enjoyed Rigoletto there and it will be a favorite memory.

We came as a couple to watch Il Trovatore by Verdi. It was amazing. Acoustics couldn't get any better. Built in the 1800's, the building itself is a sight to behold. See the pictures I took of the ceiling and the statue of Bellini on the 3rd floor. You have to experience an Opera here. If you can't get box... More

We have visited the theatre and were very impressed. Beautiful and unique place. We went to see a concert in the evening and enjoyed it very much. Manager of the theatre is a very special man, welcomed us in the most pleasent way.

A very nice theater. We had a guided tour of the theater, and as we were only two it was sort of private tour. Our guide explained everything very nicely and responded well to all our queries.

Sadly, we didn’t go inside this theatre, but the outside is amazing, with so much to see on this lovely building. Its a shame there is graffiti & the whole thing looks like it needs a clean, but well worth a visit. Some great cafes and restaurants nearby too.

Situated in the lovely Piazza Bellini, the opera theatre (named after Vincenzo Bellini who was born in Catania) is unusual in that the facade is built of red sandstone.
