This is a very very old crypt, completely different to the one in the Cathedral. It is more like a cave with a few dark passages that you can walk down but they lead nowhere. It is quite damp and eerie, very historic. The ceiling in the main part is very high so it is not claustrophobic. It is quite... More

The story of this crypt is amazing. There is so much to see and read about its history I highly recommend a visit.

This is a free attraction to go in the heart of the city. The caves are bigger than you would expect. They are very spooky well worth a quick visit

The cave below the 17th century church of Santa Restituta was already used by Carthaginians and Romans. During the first centuries, they served as church. Popular believe holds that Santa Restituta was imprisoned and martyred in this cave. There are a couple of altars carved out of the rock. One to the right from the stairway holds a statue of... An interesting crypt that was built then expanded over the last 2.5 thousand years. We were lucky to meet someone who explained some of the less obvious features, but even without a guide, it makes for an interesting visit. It was free, but hours are limited. Some people walk through in 5-10 minutes, others spent up to 30 minutes.

From the locked church above and the small not particularly well advertised side door to the crypt you have no idea what awaits you. Under the church is a stunning space that has been used for a variety of purposes over the years. During WWII it was a a shelter and home for those who lost their houses. It is... More

opens 10am to 01pm. Free. Going down steps to history. Nothing much to see. You will be disappointed if you want to find a baroque design. It's a crypt carved in the rock. But history is there… You can just feel it. Don't forget to read the presentation outside before going down

Cripta di Santa Restituta was on the same road I was staying, which was very inspiring of them, mind you they decided to do this some 2000 years before I was born or even I decided to visit Cagliari. The entrance is free and the lovely Italian guy at the entrance was not bored or moody to answer my brief... More
