Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Probably the most impressive of all Alghero churches, this monastic complex is accessible for a fee. The church and the cloister are the highlights. The tower can be ascended for an extra fee, but access may be closed in high winds.

The admission charge to this church must be one of the best bargains in Italy! For €2.50 you get to explore the ground floor which includes the cloisters, crypt and church; unfortunately, the first floor and tower were closed on the day I visited.
The cloisters are peaceful with items exhibited around and the Gothic church itself is quite plain but with some unusual architectural elements. The crypt has religious items on display.
By the way, the toilet facilities are excellent!

My wife and myself recently visited the lovely town of Alghero and - more by luck than judgement - we came across the Church of Saint Francis.

On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the Receptionist who - after paying the Euros2.50 entrance fee - gave us an English pamphlet to enhance our visit. Our tour began with making good use of the excellent toilet facilities and then we spent some time in the attractive Courtyard before visiting both the Church and the Crypt.

All in all, a most enjoyable experience and one I would certainly recommend to other visitors provided, of course, they can find it!!

This church was built in 14-15. century in Gothic style. We bought a basic ticket (without the tower) and visited the church and the crypt. It’s very nice, I especially liked the marble high altar. It’s worth to visit.

Such a beautiful place in a beautiful town. Deeply historic and well worth understanding the background and visiting.

rather plain church, one out of a dozen, but in a room you can find an interesting Bacon-esque painting

The cloister makes this different to other chuirches in Alghero. However, there is nothing really special or ornamentally breathtaking about the church interior. So to pay for being able to see it, other than admiring the quite old ceiling an parts, is a bit typical.
The hotel should be an experience, but the actual visit is nothing special.

We caught the end of mass on the evening of All Souls Day on 1st November. The church was full of locals, young and old and there was a very special atmosphere. The altar is stunning with some beautiful art lining the sides of the church.

This small church with tiny cloister, beautiful art and lovely altar is worth the fee. The locals look after it and are reaaly pleased when someone visits.
