Waste of time and money

Terrible experience. 6 euro to get it and the portion accessible to visitors is minimal.
Only a few rooms are open, the wall is not accessible and in the price is not inven included a guided tour.
Also, the staff seems to be able to park their cars in the ground of the castle despite there are plenty of spaces in the streets just outside it.....only in Italy

Good exhibition

I visited this castle with my sister, we could get tickets at a reduced price of 2 euro per person (for young adults), so we did not hesitate.

We appreciated the english translations at most of the museum artifacts, which we also found were very interestingly explained. Some parts of the museum were more interesting than others, but that is pretty usual. Don't expect any particularly unique or special item, but what is on show is presented nicely.

We would recommend a visit, especially if you can enter the castle at a reduced price.

NEXT TO THE OLD TOWN

This castle is just at about 4' walk from Palaca Hotel.
Different names are used for this same castle.
Such as : Castello Svevo di Bari - Castello Normanno Svevo.
We walked aroun the castle and found that is impressive taking in account that was built during 1132 by the Norman King Roger II.
We also visited inside and and the fee was of 6.00E.

U Castidde

Beatiful castle well preserved, with still the ancient moat that surrounds it ( devoid of water ).
The citizen of Bari call it " U Castidde", this castle is named in the writings of Horace and Tacitus, so we are talking about 1900 years ago. What we see today is datet back in 1233 and restored in 1557.

Meh...
Nov 2019 • Couples
Substandard and overpriced - empty rooms void of... Well, anything. It's not worth the entrance ticket, you'll be done in less than 15 min only to walk out with nothing more than a 'meh' feeling. Disappointing given the rich Archaeological findings in the area of Apullia

Shame you can't really visit

I like castles but this one is really just a museum. You can visit a few of the rooms, for a fee, but the walls etc. are off limits for safety reasons.

Overpriced and not much to see - just look from outside!
Oct 2019
Before leaving Bari after our 2-night stay, we wanted to visit the impressive looking castle near the waterfront, having read about the great views from the castle walls, etc. Well, what a disappointment! We paid the (exorbitant) entry fee of €12 each to walk around its mostly empty rooms, with a few sparse exhibits. You cannot walk around the outside or up on the walls at all. And the informative movie was not working. So we felt quite ripped off and felt we should rather have just looked at the castle from outside. Not recommended, especially at this price (perhaps 3 Euros would be more appropriate).

Disappointing
Sep 2019 • Couples
You think you visit a castle. But it is more an empty (half empty) museum. The art shown was not my thing. Some exhibition rooms were empty. When i visit a castle, i want to see the castle, the views and historical pieces. Many stairs areas were closed. This was disappointing, not worth the visit.

Beautiful ancient structure

This place is amazingly well preserved but the exterior is far better preserved and more impressive than the interior.

Great exhibition
Jul 2019 • Solo
At the heart of this historic castle was a wonderful exhibition of work influenced by Leonard da Vince and one of the people who lived in the castle hundreds of years ago. Although this wasn’t the most exciting Italian castle I’ve been into, it was still an enjoyable and information experience.
