This small island is a bit off the usual Venetian path, but it’s worth seeing. Its Santa Maria Assunta church houses impressive mosaics, its bell tower offers great surrounding views—and it’s home to Locanda Cipriani, a well-regarded restaurant and hotel that played host to writing legend Ernest Hemingway .

It is perhaps the last stop in your tour itinerary of Venetian lagoon. The beautiful island of Torcello offers a laidback ambiance, a true solace for the city souls, you can actually smell and hear the prevailing calm around on this island! Known for a...More

You can get here on the Vaporetto but we took a three island tour with a guide (booked through Alilaguna) which i thought was easier. Although once occupied by the original Venetians it`s mostly used now by locals for special events in the excellent restaurants...More

The island of Torcello is way off into the lagoon, past Burano, about 40 minutes from the Fondamente Nuove by vaporetto. The boat chugs its way past Murano and another island before depositing you apparently in the middle of nowhere. A pleasant stroll along a...More

Away from the hustle and bustle. Not much to see or do unless you enjoy visiting museums and churches, unfortunately you are charged to enter everyone. Prices range from 3-5 euros for entrance. Nice walk though.

Most travelers to Venice go to Murano and Burano and miss this gorgeous place. You can take the vaporetto from Venice quite easily, see the mosaics, have lunch, and then, return via the vaporetto in a few hours. The mosaics are beyond belief. I enjoyed...More

Everyone who can do so should come here both for the beauty and to appreciate some relevant history. Around 1100 when mainland Italy was the playground of "barbarians" and no one was safe for long (some would say this hasn't changed since then!) some refugees(!)...More

The island of Torcello is really worth visiting. It still has the original mosaics. If you can go up on the Campanile, the view is worth the 250 steps (more or less)

Delightful little island with several places to eat. The 3 day pass on the water bus includes the islands - very good value.
