This small island is a bit off the usual Venetian path, but it’s worth seeing. Its Santa Maria Assunta church houses impressive mosaics, its bell tower offers great surrounding views—and it’s home to Locanda Cipriani, a well-regarded restaurant and hotel that played host to writing legend Ernest Hemingway .

On our way back from Burano we stopped here to check out the old church and get a quick bite to eat. It was a beautiful day and perfect for a walk around.

This was our 3rd trip to Venice, yes, we are lucky - this trip, we wanted to see places that we never had the time to see before. We took advantage of our 3 day vaporetto pass and came out to Torcello. The island is...More

By Venetian standards Torcello is a haven of peace, and at its heart is the wonderful Cattedrale di Santa Maria dell' Assunta. This is a gem of a church, older than San Marco, with lovely mosaics and extraordinary stone shutters on the windows on the...More

We had been told to visit the 3 main islands which we did and loved this little paradise. It wasn’t as busy as the others so we found it more relaxing. The church and bell tower must be visited.

This was one of the highlights of our week in Venice. We liked the history of the churches, we climbed the tower (no lift) and ate a meal off an edible plate.

Large ancient basilica, but not else to see in Torcello. About ten minute walk from the boat platform to the centre. Apparently only 11 people live on Torcello. I can see why.

Stopped here as part of a 3 island boat trip, not a lot to see but was very pretty. There was a church, and a small museum but we didn't have enough time to visit either.

Yes, this is Venice at its very best - away from the crowds, welcomed by a wonderful local musician playing accordion, we enjoyed the leisurely walk to the cathedral, the climb up the 23 metre campanile, and the entry to the museum. it is the...More

The beauty of this very small island lies in it's simplicity. The Byzantine chapel and the tower are must see attractions. The view from the tower is breathtaking and well worth your while!!

Water bus number 12 usually runs from Fodemante Nove (Venice) to burano murano and torcello, each island is worth visiting.
