This small island is a bit off the usual Venetian path, but it’s worth seeing. Its Santa Maria Assunta church houses impressive mosaics, its bell tower offers great surrounding views—and it’s home to Locanda Cipriani, a well-regarded restaurant and hotel that played host to writing legend Ernest Hemingway .

We stopped at Torcello on a day we decided to take a break from the main tourist area of Venice. It is a lovely spot. I have to agree with the general public that if you want to have a quieter outing then you should spend some time in Torcello. It is one of the oldest continuously populated areas in... More

Only here a short time on a tour. The island is quiet and the church is wonderful to see but not much else there really.

Went on a trip which included this island the trip was quite nice but the island not much there. When we got off the boat had a 10 minutes walk to the church the first one was free but had to pay 6 euros for the other one. There were a few little stalls selling souvenir's and a restaurant that... More

The boat from mainland Venice stops here in between Murano and Burano. I had never visited, despite travelling to Venice many times, and thought that I should take a look. There is not much to see, however, it is very pretty, and there are a number of small restaurants on the way to visiting the big church, which is the... More

You can reach Torcello directly from Venice on the No. 12 water bus (which also serves Murano, Burano, and other major points in the northern Lagoon). The quickest is to walk to boats stops line's at Fondamente Nove in Venice. It takes cca. 60 min if I remember well, maybe less:) I would recommend to buy 20euro vaporetto ticket valid... More

We went on a trip that took you to Murano, Burano and Torcello. Torcello being the highlight and just beautiful and tranquil. Make sure to explore all areas!

Even on a cold rainy winter day in January, this place was so serene and quiet after the bustle of the main part of the city of Venice. From the city take the 12 vaporetto to Burano and then the 9 to Torcello. A lovely short walk along a canal surrounded by meadows will take you to the Basilica di... More

Apparently this is very nice in the busy summer months. We were there on a drizzly day so it wasn't at its best.
