We loved our tour with Marco! During our 3 hour tour, Marco showed us many parts of Venice that we would not have found ourselves including some great locations for the perfect photograph. He listened to us when we told him the type of photos we wanted, and gave really helpful feedback and tips for improvement. During our tour, Marco... More

My wife, my 15-year old son and I spent 3 fabulous hours with Marco. He is the most delightful man whose good company was pleasure enough. However, he brought an added dimension to an incredible city. We took numerous photos, benefitting from his deep local knowledge and advice on composition. The results were incredibly pleasing. I would thoroughly recommend this... More

It was a most pleasant, informative, and memorable 3 hours with Marco. Marco definitely knows many beautiful places in Venice. He has lived here his whole life. As a professional photographer he also has a keen eye and the knowledge to help you get photos you love. His knowledge of history and the city of Venice is deep. HIs stories... More

Marco took my 14yr old son and I on a journey around Venice visiting both the well known tourist spots as well as places off the beaten track. He was showing us places to take some great photos and as we were walking around he gave us insights that only someone who grew up in Venice could provide. I am... More

We met Marco quite early - 7am - but it was so worth losing an hour's sleep! Marco is lovely - personable and easy to talk to. He gave us a short lesson in some of the key features of our cameras, and opened up a whole new world of not using the AUTO settings. Within a few minutes, we... More

After history, food and art tours, I wanted to try something different even though none of our family were photographers. To wander empty side streets, visit photo-ready scenes and chat with a remarkably affable Venetian, Marco, made the photo-centric theme irrelevant to our enjoyment. Despite our amateur status, his photo tips were still helpful even to our iPhone toting college... More

Marco treated us to an amazing tour of parts of Venice that we had never seen. As a native Venetian, he gave us insights into this beautiful city that enhanced our view of it. Add to this his photographic experience and we came away with lifetime memories. We have already recommended him to friends going to Venice, and will continue... More

Having visited Venice several years ago and visited the most popular tourist spots our group of four booked Marco's 4 hour "Off the beaten path Venice photo tour". What a great experience and pleasure to meet Marco who was raised in Venice. Marco was able to help me with my camera settings and give his expert advice on how to... More

Being a professional photographer myself, I booked Marco because I wanted someone who knew the ideal locations to photograph in Venice. Marco highly exceeded my expectations as both a photographer and a tour guide. Marco was generous with his time, patient with this ability to wait for the precise moment to capture the perfect photos and knowledgeable in both photography... More

We spent a lovely 3 hours with Marco walking through Venice, experiencing a local's view of this unique city. Marco shared stories that we wouldn't have gotten with a larger tour group and we loved hearing them. I especially appreciated the tips I got on using my camera better and learning how to take some great pictures. I was able... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
