My husband and I stayed a few days in Venice prior to our cruise and our photo walk/tour with Marco was marvelous! He communicated with me before our trip to help me make decisions about what to see and do before we met with him also. He was very gracious and met us on time. He showed us places we... More

Marco helped my teenage daughter, who is just getting into photography, to see the different and interesting possibilities for taking photos. Walking around Venice just after the sun came up, discovering hidden views and vistas, not to mention some favourite Venetian coffee and breakfast stops, was a delight.

Traveled to Venice with my wife and another couple this past July. I had read about photo tours and loved the idea but never experienced one. Since we were going to be in Venice 4 days I felt it was the perfect time and place for trying this kind of tour. I knew of no one who'd done this before,... More

What a great choice we made booking Marco for a few hours on the morning of our first day in Venice! Marco has such knowledge of his City and took us off the busy streets, stopping at the best vantage points to take photos. As Marco gave advice and thoughtful assistance to help me take the best shots using my... More

So glad I decided to do the photo tour. Marco is so friendly and deeply knowledgeable about the city & all the lovely photographic vantage points in Venice. I also learned a bunch of tips on my camera & how to better use some of the settings. Fantastic experience.

I purchased this for my Husband's birthday and we really werent disappointed. Marco is such a friendly chap and he is very knowledgeable about cameras, photography and especially Venice. My Husband learnt a lot about his camera and the best way to take better photos without "too much sky"! (LOL) 2 hours wasnt long enough, we would love to spend... More

If you hate crowds, love history and are interested in what real Venetians think this tour is for you. Marco picked us up right where we were staying and led us around his beautiful city, before the hoards of tourists showed up for the day. He encouraged us to look at sites that weren't popular, that doesn't mean they weren't... More

We spent our first afternoon in Europe on a family photo walk with Marco. We met him at the designated spot near the chaotic Rialto Bridge and within a few minutes, we were strolling through a quiet, residential part of Venice we would never have discovered on our own. Marco was super patient with our 10 & 14 year old... More

We loved our photography tour – and we loved meeting Marco. He has an interesting background and a great sense of humor. We met early morning and Marco showed show us the beauty of Venice without the crowds – wonderful photo ops, tips and a bit of history as Marco patiently answered all our questions. Our only regret is that... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
