Neighbourhood: San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

    Alberto's Fascinating Shop
Wonderful experience. This was our third visit to Alberto's shop, and as always he was warm, friendly and gracious; it was like seeing an old friend. He took the time to explain the skilled process he learned from his father to create his beautiful angels and frames. We were happy to add to our collection of his amazing work.

    Beautiful, authentic atelier Venice
Ran into this very nice and small atelier of Alberto Cavalier. Looked inside for a while and got extracted by the authentic atmosphere. Had a short talk about the masks Alberto makes and decided I wanted a real souvenir from Venice. Went back and bought a nice, wooden mask. He told me all about the production process and told about the history of mask making in Venice. We enjoyed every minute of our visit due to Alberto his presence and his beautiful atelier. Proud to have one of his masks on my wall now!

    Authentic and utterly charming
One of the most beautiful little shops in Venice. Gorgeous workmanship and quality by someone you can see is so passionate about what they do. I bought 2 pieces because I was so in awe of how stunning they were. They will go pride of place on my wall. Highly recommend!

Mr. Alberto Cavalier is one of a long line of artisans, and in his craft the glories of Venice's artisanal heritage still live. From the tiniest putti to the largest mirror, his woodworking is without parallel. I highly recommend that anyone interested in fine Old World decorative art stop by his shop and strongly consider making a purchase. His prices are extremely fair for the quality one receives, and each object will become a priceless family heirloom which can be loved for generations.

We have passed Alberto's shop many times, but on the last visit we took 4 pictures for him to frame.
His expertise, care and wonderful personality make this a must see stop. His shop is an Aladdin's cave of wonders, we loved it.

As others have said, he truly does have such a big heart, a lovely guy and a very caring one.

The choice of frames is fabulous, everyone matched to the picture and framed beautifully. A wonderful piece of hand made Venice to take home and they look wonderful on our wall Alberto
There is such a wonderful choice of gifts hand made Venetian style and they are truly gorgeous.
Don't worry Alberto as we promised the buttons are on the way. !!

Alberto went above and beyond for us and helped us preserve a rare piece of fortuny fabric that had been a gift. He made a gold frame with a green banding to complement the fabric, protected it and framed it. Thank you. Our shopping didn't stop there, we purchased 4 golden angels, a golden winged lion, and an unbelievable golden wood statue of St. Mark (my birthday present). We had to stop as we were only doing carry- ons in our traveling and we could not hold anymore. We will be back. We felt the magic of Alberto and his magical shop.

I bought two custom made mirrors here and they are fantastic. Alberto is a real craftsman with a warm heart and a willingness to help you get just what you need. This is a wonderful place to shop for gifts as well as home furnishings. Don't miss it!

Cavalier is a true artist, not only an incredible craftsman.
He is a master in the art of golden decoration, and also an esthete who carefully considers the object itself, and makes the best out it.
Whether you are bringing a painting to be framed, or have a piece of art created, he won't fail in delivering the best piece of art.

While visiting Venice this past summer with my brother Clair, we ventured into a shop of incredible wood carvings. We had walked by hundreds of shops without stopping but this shop drew us in and to this day, I can't tell you why. We were both fascinated with the incredible carving skills of Gianni and Alberto. I selected two pieces carved by Gianni to grace my home. I can admire his skill everyday. Alberto, both pieces made it home safely after your careful packing. You made our trip to Venice very memorable. Thank you again for taking so much time to explain everything to us. Arrivaderci my friend!! Mark

What a marvellous experience. The owner/artist makes everything and is a genuinely nice man. He explained the process for creating the work on display and we bought a beautiful silver-leaf frame in the end. A unique piece, reasonably priced and friendly, personal service. Highly recommended.
