This made a lovely change from being in the hustle & bustle outside. The musicians were fantastic and the venue all added to the atmosphere of the occasion. If you can fit this in on your Venice trip you will not be disappointed.

I would defiantly recommend doing this in Venice. The scenery- being in the prison wAs fabulous and the sounds beautiful echoing off the walls. The orchestra were fantastic and hugely talented! A must do! Even if you didn't know the artist- you'd recognise the music.

This was just beautiful, and one of the highlights of my time in Venice. The setting made it extra special too. There was no singing at the concert I attended so I cannot comment, but the music was outstanding and it was excellent value for money. I would love to attend another one of their concerts if I ever return... More

Fabulous music in a unique setting. The musicians are quite good and their sound resonates in the setting of the Palazzo delle Prigioni. It vibrates with feeling and will fill you with joy.

Okay it wasn't La Fenice but they could at least have tried. Surely there must be oodles of would-be opera singers looking for opportunities to earn a few Euros? There could have been a modicum of atmosphere (candles don't cost much). Perhaps even an attempt at an introduction? The female singer gave it a good shot. She smiled and seemed... More

Although locals are probably overdone, for we tourists, hearing Baroque on a balmy summer night in the Prigioni was bliss. 3 violins, a viola, cello , and bass were sublime. As well, the performers were 100%, despite the somewhat well worn pages of Vivaldi. And to top it off, 2 encores to a small audience of internationals who could not... More

The concert at the Palazzo Delle Prigioni featured opera singers with piano accompaniment performing the most famous opera arias from Carmen, The Barber of Seville, Don Giovani, Cavalleria Rusticanna, Vedova allegra and other selections as well. What better way to spend a Tuesday or Thursday evening in Venice. The concert starts at 9PM on Tuesday and Thursday and Friday at... More

I purchased a ticket via expedia for the orchestral performance of the "Four Seasons" by Vivaldi. I chose the orchestral performance over the operatic one since I am not fond of the classical voice. (And YES! I have given it numerous tries.) It was only $27/person. At the time I went (March), the performance was in the 'prison' block next... More

My husband and I were ready for a break from Venice's relentless commercialism and this concert proved to be a perfect change of pace. The "Opera Singers" program takes place in a small upstairs concert hall in the historic prison, just a step away from St. Mark's, and is offered on alternating evenings with Vivaldi's Four Seasons. We were part... More
