We did a late morning walk through the markets, St. Marks Basilica, and also did a gondola ride. The tour was great and informative, but would have been more enjoyable with our own ear buds. The ones provided were very uncomfortable and did not really have the best audio. Otherwise, the tour was a super introduction to the city and... More

The tour includes St Mark's Basilica, Doge's Palace, Rialto market and a Gondola ride. The guide Mirco was outstanding. He was informative, funny and gave us a great "local knowledge" of Venice. We learned much more than we would have on our own. Highly recommended.

Well organized, punctual and very well spoken guide who gave us the history of St. Mark's Cathedral and the Doges Palace. Mose kept our teen boys' interest the entire 3 hours. He was extremely knowledgeable, open to questions and patient with the group. We were given audio sets at the beginning so we could hear everything Mose said without him... More

We did the Legendary Venice, St Mark's Basilica with Terraces and Doge's Palace. Marina did an excellent job! My husband and I had toured the Doge's Palace before, but not the Basilica. It was our friends' first time in Venice. Marina gave us lots of information, and even though it was our second time in the Doge's Palace, we learned... More

This tour included St Mark's Basilica, Doge's Palace and a Gondola ride. We also walked around less crowded areas of Venice. Francesca was our tour guide. She was very informative, nice and professional. We learned many interesting facts. Although the all day long tour is a little pricey for two people, we learned more than we would have on our... Very good tour that takes you to all the out of the way places. Local food and fish markets, another 100 churches. St marks which is really beautiful but it was very rushed through the basilica. Included a gondola ride which is great value, if you book your own there 80 euro a gondola. Would recommend you do it.

This was an after hours tour of the Basilica. Our tour guide was excellent and very passionate about her city. The church was simply amazing. I'm sure we saw things we would have missed if we went during the day. Our group was small so that made it even better. I would definitely recommend this tour. This only thing to... More

Best way to see all the highlights of Venice in the shortest time possible. Had a wonderful day with only 10 of us on the tour made asking questions and moving around a lot easier than on larger tour groups. Susan our guide was brilliant, she knew the history well and managed to point out lots of things you simply... More

We ended a 10-day Viking Cruise of the Adriatic Sea in Venice. It was a great cruise with tours (both included and optional) every day. Knowing we would be on our own in Venice, I did some research before our trip and stumbled upon the Walks of Italy website. We signed up for the Alone in St. Mark's Basilica tour... More

3 hour tour with head of line entry maximized our time enjoying San Marco square, the basilica, and the Doges Palace. Our guide was excellent and her English quite good. Best way to get to see the famous places. Did two tours in Rome with Walk of Italy that were also top-notch. Made all arrangements online- well worth the cost!

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
