DiscoveringVenice is run by Antonella, Eugenia and Federica. We are Registered Tourist Guides since 2000. We offer a wide range of private tours. We also offer semi-private tours: a perfect way to share costs with other travellers like you. The private tours we organize can be either on foot or by private boat (Gran Canal, small canals, islands of the lagoon - Murano, Burano, Torcello). We are keen to organize customized exclusive tours to make you discover the "hidden Venice" and its back-streets, as well as the monumental classic Venice.

We chose Discovering Venice based on reviews that recommended them because of the personal treatment. This was also our experience; we were 4 adults guided by Antonella through the magic of Venice. Antonella met with us at our hotel and adapted the tour to our interests and language (Spanish). For this personal treatment and the kindness of Antonella we strongly... More

Just recently returned from Venice and cannot recommend the walking tour by Antonella enough. She was engaging, very knowledgeable, spoke English beautifully, and just made Venice a special place to visit. If you want a real insite to the city and have a special experience in Venice than take a walking tour from this group because they are excellent. Highly... More

Frederica took us on a 3.5 hour of mid-winter Venice. Equally knowledgeable on art, architecture and history, she keep us fully engaged throughout. We covered the main attractions and had a boat trip as well to get the perspective of Venice from the water. I would highly recommend her.

I booked a private tour of Marano and Burano for me, my wife and two daughters. Our guide was Antonella and she was a complete professional. The tour was engaging and entertaining. It gave us a good overview of both islands and local industry and daily life of Burano in particular. If you are visiting Venice for more than two... More

Antonella was absolutely fantastic. We only had a limited time for the tour and she covered all the major attractions while providing the fascinating history behind each of them. We had our 3 year old with us and she made sure he was engaged and not bored. The boat tour after the walking tour was wonderful and I highly recommend... More

Federica was fantastic! What a delightful, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable guide! We toured all the iconic Venice buildings and venues and she provided great insight into the culture, architecture, and history of the city.(My wife and I felt like Federica hosted us as if we were family) I highly recommend her, and we will reach out to her again for... We had a wonderful tour of Venice with Federica! She was not only knowledgeable and informative, but very patient as well. We got off on the wrong train stop and she patiently described to us on the phone how to correct our error. Then she adjusted our tour to make up for the time lost. Federica really gave us a... My husband and I had never been to Venice before last weekend. We only had two and a half days, so I thought a walking tour/boat tour would be good. It was the best decision! Antonella had a huge knowledge of the history, art, music and politics of the City. She could answer our questions as she took us around... More

My parents who are in their 60's and I took a private tour with Patrizia in April 2016. The tour included a visit to St. Mark's Square and Basilica, a walk through the backstreets of Castello-Rialto and its market, and finally a one hour boat tour along the Grand Canal and inner canals of the city. Patrizia's communication and coordination... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
