If you get tostand on the bridge its a lovely view. Beware of expensive shops though, don't get carried away. Not expensive to eat or drink but DO look around..NOT a place for dogs, they have an average of 60,000 visitors a week, look carefully at what you buy, the touristy things can be C&N. I bought a leather handbag... More

Walked across it and took a gondola along it. Impressive and beautiful in the centre of this magical city.

This is more about the city itself, than the canal. What is there to say but yessss! If you are into art, architecture, history, music, then this is a must visit. It will not betray you. The art of doing nothing can be perfected in this place one just has to turn up. From relaxing in a gondola down historical... More

Return visit to Venice with a different location so we took the water buses everywhere. At the very least a ride on the stopping bus down the canel is highly recommended.

Took organised pickup from Hotel to Airport, which included a rather lengthy trip around Grand Canal. Wide sections add a different perspective to Venice after also travelling on several of the smaller canals. A great way to see the City.

The Grand Canal is quintessential Venezia. This was what I came all the way to Venice to see. Was absolutely wowed not only by the Grand Canal but the little ones that seem to branch off in different directions. The beat way to see the Grand Canal is to ride the water taxi or vaporetto - either number 1 or... More

We took a boat right through The Grand Canal .. Beautiful !!!!!! It's amazing how people live and businesses thrive on the water going right up to the front door .. Unigue Beauty to the utmost .. This is a cabal one must go through .. Take pics .. You will never forget the views ..

Fantastic central attraction better than the M25 but no less busy, you can sit in the sun and watch the boats go by with a coffee or a beer in hand and marvel at the sights around you.

A definite must see. Probably one of the stereotypical images you have of Venice before you come here It really is a great view, but personally I'd rate 4 stars as perhaps I wasn't as blown away as I thought I would be. But I think, depending on the weather, the view could look a lot better? May have just... More
