About
The heart of Casinò di Venezia beats on the Grand Canal in Ca' Vendramin Calergi, the sophisticated theatre of the most classic games. In 1638 the Casinò di Venezia quickly established itself as the centre of entertainment of international notoriety while in the 1950s it moved to this location.

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

    This isn't a hidden gem, it's a cubic zirconia
Please don't waste your time or money here. Where to begin? After paying a mandatory 50 euro entrance fee ( minus 20 euros for play and a bottom rail only drink coupon) to staff who looked annoyed that you were there, prepare to be treated to a handful of tables and some video slot machines. Or relax in their near empty bar or lavishly decorated smoking room. So why did we go? A colleague recommended going saying it was like a James Bond movie...I would liken it to a scuzzy Freemont St casino in Las Vegas. Venice is an amazing city and not to be missed, so please don't waste a precious moment here. If you do go, don't worry about their website's dress code. I fell for it, traversing their sporting pants, a long sleeved shirt, and shoes (in July) and yet I saw the few sad, lonely, disappointed looking patrons wearing sandals, t-shirts and jeans (and not all at once). Having said that, the staff (I believe there were more than visitors) were impeccably dressed, though at 50 euros a pop, I guess they can afford it. I would have shared photos, but cameras aren't allowed. I can understand why...

    Wagner
Unless you are a hardened gambler or just want to say you gambled at the birthplace of the casIno; the main other reason to come here is for classical music lovers. The building was the location where the great opera composer, Richard Wagner died in 1883. There are plaques comemorating this on both the canal and street side of the building. In addition there is a small museum dedicated to Wagner memorabilia. You need to arrange a visit before arriving.

Don’t let the reviews put you off!
Almost let the reviews put me and my partner off as we are a young British couple on our first city break. We were dressed relatively smart, jacket and wearing black jeans and had no issue. Payed 10 euros to get in and got a free drink and 10 euros to play on the slots or the tables! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, just gambling low stakes and just having fun. I’d recommend!

Empty. Only the staff.
Speaking to whom is like "why are you even here?" It's like someone beat them up to get them to work.
50 euro entry is an absolute joke given the service (non existent).
No poker table (obvious when there is no one and only ghosts).
Better to donate your money to the needy or throw it in the canal.
Still might do good.
This is an absolute nightmare.

I had an excellent time at Casino di Venezia (Casino of Venice). First time I have ever paid an entrance fee to a casino. The entry fee was $50 Euros and they give you a choice of $20 slot play or $20 in chips. I used my driver’s license from the states to get in. No shorts or flip flops allowed. Same dress code as if you were going to a church.

The casino is only open on Fri, Sat and Sunday. Opens at 8:15PM and closes around 3:00AM. I used a credit card at the cage to get cash and there were No transactions fees, went through like a purchase so no cash advance fees from my bank. Cheaper than using an ATM.

I was pleasantly surprised by the layout of the casino. A few roulette tables, lots of space at each table for lots of players. A few blackjack tables and a couple of Punto Banco (baccarat) tables. They also had a game called chemin de fer (most players had $5000 - $20,000) too rich for me.

Baccarat table limits were $20 - $1000 and another table from $100 - $5000. No commission on banker wins. 1/2 pay if the banker wins with a total of 6. (Baccarat is said to originate in Italy so this was my game of choice).

I really liked the casino and the dealers were friendly. I ended up going there 3 nights in a row. I always tip my dealers so maybe that is the difference.

Awful , ugly casino, with shocking behaviour from the staff.
Entering the casino is very disappointing, it’s small, tired and hardly any games to play, so I decided to play the roulette.
First spin I lost 100
Second spin I won a little back and as they gave the chips the watcher told me when I win I need to give a tip, even though I clearly was not winning,
His attitude was aggressive and I replied maybe when I win.
He was very rude and every spin kept insisting I give tips to the point it was embarrassing, he was asking to give tips for his dinner etc.
then the lady working the roulette got involved and started to tell me I need to tip when I win. And they was talking bad about me in Italian which I can understand. I ignored them and carried playing.
Then to my surprise I almost won every spin and could see them becoming more angry and demanding of tips.
Was unbelievable. Just pure begging after they had just abused me. I told them I will not give them one cent because they need to learn some respect.
Amd I had the same situation as they changed the staff twice and both of the other watchers was begging too ,very aggressive. By this point I told them enough we have already done this routine with ur colleagues.
I left the table thousands of euro up (first time ever 😂)and the pure anger of the watcher was very clear and threatening.
I said thank you and left with a huge smile on my face.
I have been too casinos all over the world and I HAVE NEVER witnessed such desperate, embarrassing, rude and begging behaviour.
I definitely will never return.

It was horrible. We waited in line for an hour and a half just to get in, only to be told that you had to have a booster shot. Not good hospitality.

Great Table games for the small area that they have. I believe most people were playing roulette. There was big money flowing around the European roulette tables making it intimidating for a lower stakes player to play. The BJ tables seemed very welcoming to 10€ bets as long as there were 2 players, otherwise 2 hands at 10€ a hand.

Honestly the BJ worked better solo that with others but all seemed fair.

4. Stars for the lack of attention to their slot machines/taking care of payout assistance.

The casino is worth a visit even it's just to say you've been. You'll need a passport / photo id for entry. It was my birthday on the Saturday evening when we visited, I got free entry and €20 of free chips. The staff are very professional and security on the tables is tight which is good to see when there are so many high stake players. Even if you don't gamble it's good to people watch! Drinks are comparable with restaurant price.

We accidentally stumbled on this casino while roaming the streets of Venice one night. It was very nice and security is extremely high, so much so that I felt like I was in a movie. It's not like a Vegas casino though so there are very few slot machines and in Euros its hard to know what you're spending.
