A step through history
Jul 2020
This well preserved Roman gate is situated right in the middle of Aosta's bustling main street. It is lit up and beautifully presented at night. The gate helps you to understand the whole layout of the town and gives a real sense of the history of the town.
Free to see and wander around.

Aosta town
May 2019 • Couples
We have travelled through this area a number of times. Today we spent the entire day looking round the town of Aosta. What a great place. Wine at 3 euros a glass, beer 2.50. Living in France it's a refreshing change to pay 1/3 the price we are charged over the boarder😊 A great place to visit.

Very well preserved double gate
Jul 2018 • Family
This is a splendid piece of Roman history, preserving as it does the inner and outer gates of the city, in direct line with the triumphal arch just along the road, outside the original walls. Parts of the limestone/marble cladding are still in place, making it easier to visualise how it must have looked originally.

Impressive roman gate
Feb 2019 • Solo
The eastern gate into Roman Aosta (which still has impressively complete roman walls).
This gate has been incorporated into a tower and is at the end of the medieval street. Takes about 5 minutes to visit.

Ancient History before your eyes
Dec 2017 • Couples
No words can describe the feeling of being in front of these well-preserved ruins and telling the stories of their time. Speechless.
