A hidden gem in Torino
Jan 2020
The palace has a long history of the French/Italian royalty and clearly was a cultural and political hub back in the days (with young Mozart gigging there whilst on the European tour with his family). The guide (Francesco) was a fountain of knowledge and very obliging with our two boys (7 and 10) that were subjected to this cultural experience. Top man

that was a couple of hours well spent, then go for a hot chocolate at Al Bicerin around the corner.

Very disappointing. I got my money back

First--Don't you hate it when attractions don't keep their websites up to date and accurate??

I visited on Saturday and arrived at 3 pm expecting to be able to tour the palace on my own. The website states that the palace is open from 3:00 to 6:30 on Saturdays and "guided tours are offered ONLY at 5:30 on Saturdays." This certainly sounds like we'd be able to tour without a guide if we arrived at 3:00--wouldn't you agree??

On arrival I was told that I could only visit on a guided tour starting at 3:30 and ending at 4:30. I had a concert at the Capella della Mercanti (highly recommended) at 5:00, so I paid for a ticket.

The "tour" started at 3:30 but at 3:45 we were still standing in the entry listening to a long, long rap. I don't know if the rest of the group ever got inside the place but I demanded and received a refund.

These folks need to clean up their act. the palace may be nice but the way they operate the tour and their website is very poor.

This is so spectacular, uncrowned . Tour is in Italian, guide speaks some English. Incredible history of 1700’s palace with mentions of Napoleon, Mozart & others. Great neighborhood also. Churches nearby. 7 stars

A little piece of history
Oct 2018 • Solo
It cost me only $3 for a guided tour of this lovely palazzo. A tour was available in English but I chose to to take it in Italian. Initially I was the only person on the tour and even when some others (Italians) came along the guide spoke slowly and clearly so I could understand everything. Recommended.

Gorgeous Italian palazzo, a hidden gem in the centre of Turin
May 2018 • Couples
The guide was well informed and truly passionate about the history of the place and managed to entertain us for an hour and a half. Because fewer visitors come here we were only 3 people in the guided tour, so the visiting experience was great.
The person at the ticket desk wasn't the friendliest, but he was ok.
Important note: the palazzo can ONLY be visited with a guided tour, but they didn't say so on their website, nor were we able to find a tour schedule.
Still, highly recommended, just make sure you phone them up to check details of the visit.

The museum was way beyond our expectations with breath-taking mural and ceiling paintings, sumptuous decorations, antique musical instruments and great stories behind every piece that we had the chance to discover thanks to the most amazing guide ever (Francesco Valerio). It was truly an inforgettable visit from numerous angles. We sincerely recommend!

Me and my friends went to the Palazzo Barolo this weekend. We were passing in front of the museum when we decided to enter, but what was waiting for us inside was simply amazing! It was almost closing, but they let us enter. We also had a guide, Valerio Francesco, wich was very patient and completely passionated about the history of the palace. He made a complete tour with us, he let us take lots of pictures and was always very kind! The palace is a beautiful and important part of Turin's history, I reccomend it to everyone!

Interesting palace, but tour was only in Italian
Dec 2016 • Couples
There's a lot of history in Palazzo Barolo and the guide was clearly passionate about it (one can only see the place with a guide). Since we do not understand Italian, we were given folders with English explanations, but they were clearly short and bland relative to what the guide was describing. The tour encompassed the palace from top to bottom (including the basement). We enjoyed it.
