The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Wow

Michelangelo's late Pieta is awesome. When you got the chance to get there without any crowds you can enjoy the calmness of the room and the amazing art. We were lucky. Only two people were there. When we left 40 school children came in. We were there right on time I assume

Starting point of my visit to Castello Sforzesco
Dec 2019
I visited the Museo Pieta Rondanini in December 2019. The main attraction here is Michaelangelo's Rondanini Pieta. It was not crowded here since I got here early on a Sunday morning. I recommend starting your visit to Castello Sforzesco here because the ticket also covers the main museum. It will save you time from having to wait in line to buy a ticket to the main museum and then having to wait in another line to enter the main museum.

Interesting
Nov 2019
There was a short wait of about 10 minutes to enter and security was strict with bags searched. Michelangelo’s Rondanini Pietà holds centre stage in the middle of the one room museum, but there are also a few small exhibits. It's a photo opportunity and a case of, been there, done that. The main museum in the castle is far more interesting.

Only one item
Dec 2019
This museum only had one item - it was the unfinished last work of Michelangelo, which is interesting. Maybe I'm just not a big enough fan?

The line was long but worth it in the end to see such masterpiece. The whole museum was worth visiting as well.

Check Timing - Closes before rest of castle
Dec 2019
Stopping in here for the sculpture only takes 5 minutes, there is much more to see in the rest of the castle. Dont pay for the admission and only see this. Make sure you visit this sculpture early on, it may close before other exhibits in the castle. It wasnt crowded, but people were still cut off right when they entered when it was time to close. It stands alone in the room and they were still not allowed to take a look.

Simple but impressive
Mar 2019
It is inside the Castle and has as main piece an incomplete Pieta. The location was carefully engineered to preserve the statue and although it is not complete the master genius can be seen in it.

Small room in Castello Sforzesco with the Pieta
Oct 2019
The Pieta is in a separate room. You need to leave the museum and walk through the inside courtyard to get to the building/room with the Pieta. This is Leonardo’s Pieta with Mary standing holding up the crucified body of Jesus. The statue is very rough, almost as if not finished.

Contains the unfinished last statue by Michelangelo
Oct 2019
This former chapel contains Michelangelo's last statue. It presents a work in progress along with its history.

If this is the first place you visit in the Castello you may be shocked by the cost of entry (8-10 Euros) but be assured that this entry ticket covers the whole castle so hang on to your ticket.
