The area
Neighbourhood: Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Piazza Cordusio
Oct 2018
A traditional Financial centre of Milan. Elegant classical buildings of banks and insurance companies.

Now people visit the former main post office building that has been converted to the city's first Starbucks.

Surrounded by concave houses.
Jun 2019 • Solo
An attractive piazza, where some of the houses are following the curve of the square., so the front of the buildings are concave. Probably it is a fashion in other places in the world as well; only I wasn’t aware of it till now. In the middle of the piazza stands the statue of the Italian author, Giuseppe Parini, and this is the place from where the famous Via Dante starts or ends, to lead you the Sforza Castle. The most prominent building is probably the Post, now housing the Starbuck Coffee. In front of that, building a lovely coffee shop operates, under pergolas, that covered and surrounded by a lot of green. Don’t miss it out, if you’re there. It isn’t only an ordinary coffee shop. Another impressive sight is the next edifice, that is currently under restoration, but some fresco at the front is visible. I can’t say that it is the most beautiful or exciting piazza that I have ever seen, but worth a short visit.

TRANSIT AREA
Mar 2019 • Couples
This piazza is home to the monument of Parini and many nice buildings. It is also a large transit area, with numerous bus stops and a metro stop. Very busy.

Trams and trams...
Oct 2018
It seems to have more trams here as elsewhere in Milan. If you want to watch the old trams, this is the right place. The square itself is not too interesting.

A commercial center
Aug 2017 • Couples
The square is named after the court of Lombardian dukes (“Curia Ducis”) that stood here in the 7th century. Today, it is a busy, commercial square, rounded by some of the most important business buildings of the city, Palazzo Broggi, Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali and Palazzo del Credito Italiano, among others.
