The main and most famous square in Milan. Lovely places around it: Duomo, Galeria Vittorio Emanuelle II, Royal palace etc. Full of people all time, sometimes overcrowded. As usual, plenty of beggars trying to get some money or sell some useless stuff are there. It is better is to ignore them at their first attempt rather than to enter any... More

This plaza is very beautiful. You can see the Duomo and of course the other buildings. It is very big, so you can really enjoy the views.

Worth visiting. Plenty to see. Notably, we found some people asking for money there rather aggressive; we gave them a couple euro and they actually yelled and asked for more while harassing us; I would advise usual city pickpocket precautions.

Very first symbol of Milan. One cannot come to Milan and miss the stunning view. Perfect during sunny days but very romantic all year long. (Also nice considering there are very nice places for having lunch / dinner nearby or amazing places for shopping and all kind of fashion)

Piazza del Duomo is the real symbol of Milan and a mandatory place to visit. It's size size and architecture are consistent with the greatness of the Duomo itself. Very recently a ste of palm trees and banana plants were introduced at the very end of the square facing the cathedral triggering a great echo of pros and cons comments... More

We sat above the piazza having a drink late night, at the piazza edge with our sanwich/wine. Really a lovely view from any nearby area.

Best time to visit this square is late evening, as their are only a few people about, rather than during the day when it is like a Foorball stadium

The Piazzo del Duomo feels like the heart of Milan. I have visited it every time I go to Milan. The central location, makes it a great starting point for exploring the city!

You will probably end up in this area while visiting Milan, and you should. This is a beautiful plaza, surrounded by many other attractions and just makes you feel good about being there, day and night.

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
