The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Mozart actually played here....
Sep 2019
He played the organ here, for three months 'as he wished', as he lived in the church rectory. Can you imagine???????

And as if that is not enough to make your visit special..... digest this.... Giuseppe Verdi conducted his composition of the Requiem Mass, for the first time, in this building, this church, as the mystifying music reverberated through the sacred naves of this Basilica...although I am not sure if it was already then designated as a Basilica. How cool is that???????

On my next visit, I plan to bring the music and sit in the middle of the church.... close my eyes..... listen and imagine......

Church with history.
Jun 2019
The second biggest church in Milan, after the Cathedral. Originally was built in Gothic style, that later on was changed to Baroque. Now, probably every part of it dates to different ages. Just for example if we look at the campanile, it dates back to the 14th century, but was renovated and finished at the end of the 18th. I think it is ridiculous to talk about the age of the church. From the interior, possibly the most exciting part is a fresco in the first transept. Under the "Alexander IV Instituting the Order of the Augustinians ." they found a much older one, the crucifixion of Christ. Now, this part of the old fresco is inserted into the newer one. There are also several sarcophagi. With the history of the church, I was more impressed than the appearance of it. In the 18th century, Mozart spent three months in the monastery, and on the first anniversary of the death of Manzoni the beloved and respected poet and novelist, here was the first performance of Verdi's Requiem, written in honor of the poet.

Don´t be fooled by the modern Neogothic facade
Jan 2018 • Solo
Don´t be fooled by the modern Neogothic facade, as the interior dating to a much older period holds a large nave and some really nice frescoed chapel with paintings from the Baroque, Renaissance periods and with some still remaining from the Gothic one-

Charming Church near Brera
Apr 2017 • Friends
The red brick facade of the church is very attractive. Above the entrance you can see a lovely fresco of Madonna and Child. It is a small and quiet church, a good place for worship and contemplation.

Church of Saint Mark
Apr 2017 • Friends
Nice church in the Brera district. That day it was inactive after Easter celebrations, but the doors were open so we could see it freely.
