About
The Duomo, symbol of Milan in the world, is one of the largest cathedrals in Italy and Europe. Patrimony of Milanese people and humanity, over the centuries it has been expressing, with its magnificence, the devotion of humanity toward the Divine, involving future generations in an endless commitment. The Milan Cathedral, besides being an artistic monument, is a privileged place of prayer, deeply linked to the memory and teachings of the Bishops who succeeded on St. Ambrose's chair, and to the history of the millions of worshippers who, every year, gather in this place to celebrate the Sacred Mysteries. The Cathedral is the mother Church of the Diocese, having a symbolic role of exemplarity both in the life of the city worship, and in relation with the Diocese activity.

Top ways to experience Duomo di Milano
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

This is the big thing everyone wants to do in Milan. The inside is vast but doesnt take long to look at. You get great views at the top and it is unique to be up at the top of a cathedral. You have to wait in line for the small elevator to take you up to the top. There are still some steps to get up to the roof. Then you have to take the stairs going down. I was a bit rushed in my visit. I needed to use the bathroom upon my arrival but their toilets were closed. I asked where I can go and they said I had to find a bar/cafe and buy a coffee (more liquid and a diuretic) to get access to their toilet. Since I had a timed ticket, I did not have time for all that and I had to just hold it and enter. Unfortunately this rushed my visit. It is really unacceptable for such a large tourist attraction to not have toilets. In the end, I found a nearby KFC with a free (very dirty) toilet.

I loved how the cathedral was lit up at night. Lots of statues and carving to look at outside and the interior was just as interesting. I'd take a tour, though, as I missed things the first time just walking around. Didn't get to the roof (I'd done it years ago) mainly because we ran out of time but highly recommend it.

We were unable to use our tickets and could not get a refund. The web site is confusing in that it was not clear whether we were buying tickets for the Duomo in Florence or Milan. The fact that they would not refund our money for the service we paid for is a warning to other potential customers who could lose money. Please avoid this making reservations and instead buy tickets locally.

Beautiful. Terrible noise of a "singer" out on the street. The terrible noise that this single person makes is dominantly ruining a good experience of many. Especially on the roof , the noise seem to be amplified. Who is allowing this ?

I think this is the most iconic place in Milan. Everyone visiting this city should visit the Duomo. It's architecture is just beautiful. It is a place filled with history and art and will not dissapoint. I recommend visiting early in the morning, when there are fewer visitors and and buy the ticket online, from their official site.

This is such a magnificent building it doesn't matter how many times you see it it is always impressive. You cannot go to Rome without seeing the Pope as the saying goes and you cannot go to Milan without seeing the Duomo either.

It was a great visit and we loved the architecture. Due to Covid, there were fewer tourists which made the visit even better.
We did not have time to go to the terrace but heard good things about it.

Highly recommended to visit, the dumo is very artistic and you can just set there for hours and watch what’s going on in the square.

You can find many shopping places and delicious restaurants as well.
