The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Lovely Museum

This was the perfect setting to see good art in an intimate and interesting setting. If only going to see the villa, it's worth it. The details of paneling, flooring, structure are exceptional. While not an extensive collection art, there are good works, including Picasso.

Worth a Look
Jul 2021
I really enjoyed this. The Villa was completed by architect Piero Portaluppi in 1935 on behalf of the Necchi & Campiglio families. It is a beautifully preserved example of the home of an aspirational, wealthy family of the period. In contrast to Portaluppis' modern design is the Louis XV styling of architect Tomaso Buzzi who was invited post war to make changes. The Villa was bequeathed by the family to the FAI, a National Trust style organisation. The guides I believe, are volunteers & the gentleman assigned to give me the low down on the villa had excellent English skills & extensive knowledge. I was left to explore the further rooms, with guides on hand if required. It’s possible to download an English information guide onto your phone on arrival. It takes around an hour to look round & is very central. There is a sweet little cafe on site.

Very nice restaurant in the midst of this heritage building / museum in the city center. Excellent local dishes (the risotto Milanese !) and decent wine card. Good value for money.

Excellent guided tour, guide passionate about the Villa
Jul 2019
We visited the Villa in July (we are still in catch up mode for reviews) and arrived just as the guided tour in Italian was commencing. As we couldn't wait for an English language tour, we joined the tour as a detailed English written guide was provided. We were incredibly fortunate that the only two others on the tour were English-speaking Italians, who suggested to the guide that the tour continue in English. How kind was that!

Whilst some reviewers have complained that the tour takes too long, it is advertised as a one-hour tour, and we greatly enjoyed hearing the detail about this lovely villa from our guide who clearly loved the building. Well worth a visit in English or Italian, utilising the detailed English guide.

A Villa with park and swimming pool downtown of the city
Dec 2019 • Solo
During the first years of 1900 , the municipality of Milan decided to edificate this area that was the park of villa Serbelloni . The family Campiglio bought a part of this area and commissioned the project of their villa to the architect Piero Portaluppi .
He made a simple building inside the park.

Fascinating look at a time gone by.

We booked the tour in English, which was very competently led by a Cambridge graduate! This house is run by FAI, the National Trust of Italy. Very lovely setting with a pleasant cafe and small ( classy) gift shop. The house was built in 1930s and has the most beautiful proportions. Wonderful examples of period features. Post war decorative styles were interesting too.
