As we were walking toward the lake our barge was docked at, someone suggested we pop-in to the fire museum. What a great find! I am surprised by a few bad reviews...this museum reflected the care and commitment of firefighters that loved their profession and clearly honored their history. Kids would love this place. Boats, helicopters and fire trucks...how can you miss. It only takes an hour to visit but well worth whatever donation you are willing to make. A number of fire fighters were on hand to answer questions too. We saw a great (possibly temporary) exhibit about 4 gifted athletes from the fire company that participated in the 1936 Olympics. Great old photos and artifacts. You don't need to know any Italian to enjoy this museum.

A museum of fire engines isn’t normally my first choice but this was on our route (and free) so we popped in. It’s actually really good! A history of fire engines in lovely restored vehicles (bikes, cars, engines and a helicopter) owned and kept by people who really love everything related to fire service. Worth a visit!

Went here because Trip Adviser rated it the best museum in Mantua. Really? Warrants about half an hours interest. Mantua is still all about Renaissance Palaces!

Great collections of FD vehicles, ranging from the end of XIX century to modern days. Probably items could be better arranged, but this museum is totally free. Great for kids.

This museum offers a unique collection of firemen's equipments, furnitures and vehicles (including a helicopter, boats and...bicycles!). Strongly suggested if you are with children.

What a nice surprise! Almost an obligatory stop that has to be included in the visit of the city. Here you can learn about an important part of the history of the city.
Honor and glory to all people who from more than a century have protected and saved the city of Mantua by natural disasters and fire using these vehicle, today perfectly restored and preserved.

Amazing models in exposition inside four connected buildings. There are trucks, even very large, cars, bikes and amphibious vehicles . You can also see an helicopter of the 1956. There is also an incredible rare piece exposed: an hand pump of the eighteenth century that was handled by the citizens of Mantova gathered as volunteers at that time.
This place is something really special for the entertainment of children but not only for them.
It is free entry, but the offer is really appreciated ( and for me rightful). Definitely I'll be back.

Opening Hours Sunday: 14:30 to 18:00 Sunday and holidays: 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 18:00
Closed: January 6 to February 15 and from 1 to 31 August; 1st January, Easter and December 25. I recommend it to all visitors in Mantua.
