The Rotonda replaced an old Roman temple dedicated to the godess Venus. The current building was dedicated to the martyr St. Lawrence, a deacon in Rome executed under the rule of the Roman Emperor Valerian in 258. The interior is pretty small, but well lit....More

The first church in town was is XI century. This nice church on double level (the highest not accessible) suffers of same problem of other city’s masterpieces: opening time is small. Enjoy!

Oldest church in Mantova - originally built in the 11th century. Wonderful frescoes. Small size and octagonal design much different from Renaissance churches.

I guess the most interesting element of the building is the architecture. Perfectly round constructed of bricks. A donation is a good idea.

Popped our heads inside for a quick peek at this ancient round church. We took a good photo and departed. Didn’t take long.
