Beautiful gardens
Aug 2017 • Couples
When you enter the gardens you are given a map with a suggested walk which took us about an hour and a half. You could spend longer than this as there are plenty of plants and exotic trees to look at.

Dahlias!
Oct 2016 • Friends
The gardens of Trenino are delightfully amazing.
The dahlias stood 8 feet high, with flowers larger than my head.
A beautiful stroll through immaculate gardens.

Nice

Nice tour, offering some nice views of the town and the lake. Courteous staff, well kept cars, a good option for those who wish to have an idea of the surroundings.

Ok - serves a purpose if you want to get to the Pallavicino gradens
Jun 2016 • Couples
We used this little tourist road train to get from the town centre up to the Pallavicino gardens and back - it does save you a good walk. It isn't a great scenic ride so I am not sure if you want to use it for sightseeing although it will probably appeal to children.

You will probably see more walking by the lake and in the town and I wouldn't want to do it again.

Trenino turistico di Stresa
Sep 2015 • Friends
Ride the little blue train that does a circuit of small cobble-stone streets departing from the area near the tourist bus parking area. Cost is about 4 Euros and takes approximately 30 minutes. It’s a bumpy ride, but enjoyable to see sites where a bus can’t pass. It was a novelty but now I’ve done it, I wouldn’t do it again when I go back to Stresa. However, the set down area at the end of the train ride is also near to the boat embarkation point where you can take a cruise on Lake Maggiore. It’s worth going to ‘Isola dei Pescatori’ (Fisherman’s Island) and ‘Isola Bella’ which is the main one that also has Palazzo Borromeo (a palace that belonged to the Borromeo family). It and the stunning gardens are a feature of this island. It’s approximately 10 minutes by boat from Stresa.

Very beautiful garden and you can enjoy great view to the lake Maggiore. It also has a cozy cafe for rest before or after your visit

Money for old rope

20 mins around the back streets of Stresa with no commentary and no views. And all for four euros. Save your money and wander around on foot

Interesting tour of Stresa
May 2015 • Couples
Hour-long tour of the town and environs, giving an insight to places worth re-visiting. At €4 per person, reasonable value for money but very popular so book in advance if possible.

Good for kids, not so impressive but will get you to parts of town you probably wouldn't walk to
Jun 2015 • Family
My kids were desperate to take this tourist "train" as they had ridden so many similar ones in the car free alpine towns of Switzerland, so when they saw it it was a must have for their itinerary (the only one outside of ice cream, really).

The price is not exactly a huge worry (4 euros and kids are free?), and it isn't so impressive but it did get us to the other side of town and by some nice villas we wouldn't have seen if we hadn't taken it.

For me it was not exactly impressive but I did see some things I wouldn't have otherwise, and my kids loved it, so if you have little ones give it a shot. If not well you may not be too thrilled with your adventure but for 20 minutes and 4 Euros the biggest loss would be your time in Stresa, the best part of which by far is the lakefront walk with one of the best views across the Lago Maggiore I've ever seen.
