We decided to walk from Bonzeno where we were staying to Varenna. We picked up the trail after following a path from Chiesa San Andrea in Bonzeno until we met the Sentiero del Viandante. We walked about two thirds of the way to Vezio. The...More

Great way to spend the day, hiking along deserted paths once used as the only way to get to villages. Essentially old donkey trails. We walked from Varenna to Bellano, visiting il Castello Di Vezio on the way. The track Is about 6 km long...More

Great walk up to Castello di Vezio along the steep trail. The trail is easy to follow and well marked up to the village of Vezio and the castle. The castle and village are well worth a visit.

This is a good and pleasant walk up the hill to the Vezio castle ruins overlooking Varenna. We had no trouble at all with signage but do warn that the path up from Varenna is steep. There are no benches until you reach the small...More

So glad I did this. I should have gotten in better shape beforehand, but went slowly on the uphill and was rewarded with a lovely hour wandering around the tower. The birds of prey were a nice bonus. And loved the little village cemetery. I...More

We enjoyed a fairly easy walk on this trail. We found the trail to be in good condition, easily marked, and with stunning views along the way. Well worth it.

It starts difficult if you get to the Castle, but then afterwards is much easier. I found signs pretty good, except one part, that almost got lost. Good views and lots of nature on the way,

Nice walk, difficult to find signs. Beautiful views. For our daughter of 10 years old it was sometimes pretty heavy but we were rewarded with beautiful views every time.

We started the walk in Varenna but got lost about a mile and a half into the walk. Signs are confusing and missing in spots, We turned around and came back to Varenna.

You could do that, but it would be a VERY long hike from Colico to Bellano- 14.5km, with a lot of ups and downs. It took us almost 4 hours to do the 7km hike from Varenna to Bellano.

Couldn't find a detailed map in English, but a search will give multiple sites in Italian. Nonetheless, good signage along the way.
