Went with our kids and eventhough it was a cloudy afternoon and a cultural visit, they loved it. Very long garden but narrow : it is just a great walk between cypresses, citrus trees, roses, palm trees etc. The house as such is also nice...More

The day I visited Villa Monastero was cloudy, and the flowers were still a few weeks from bloom, but the villa itself was quite interesting to visit and the gardens still made for a lovely walk by the water. Well worth a visit.

We visited in late April, when wisteria and peonies were blooming, and the garden was lovely. In the mid-lake region of Como, we toured four villa gardens, and we ranked his garden fourth among them. Still it is a lovely garden, and very convenient if...More

Staying in Varenna means visiting villas and gardens and villa Monestero is definitely one to visit. Beautiful villa and garden with lots of cypresses, palm trees and flowers will joy your day.

We didn't buy the ticket for the Villa so we just spent our time walking through this narrow garden that borders Lake Como. Annuals were still being planted during our visit, but despite the lack of colour the views of the lake were loverly

If you are in Varenna then this is a must visit. For the price of entry (about 3-4 euros) it is an absolute bargain. The grounds and views here are beautiful. Expect it to be busy though especially in the VIlla but the gardens are...More

I am not sure if it is open. But, however if it is not open, you can walk along the road about 7 feet from above it and actually see it all from the road.

We were staying in Menaggio so we took the ferry to Varenna. This took less than 20 mins and was very cheap and a lovely way to see the lake.
