San Fedele is absolutely beautiful and worth visiting when in Como. Be sure to see the ornately decorated Stations of the Cross, depicting the final days of Christ's life, that are mounted around the wall corners counter-clockwise starting on the far left of the altar...More

From the outside the Cathedral looks very nice. It is on a busy Square with many Restaurants where you can sit and admire the Cathedral. Inside it had a lot of paintings and sculptures. When we went in there was someone playing the Organ. The...More

A classic basilica, facade and construction, inside nice mosaics and frescoes, nice paintings and sculptures; the basilica is dedicated to San Fedele.

Smaller and older than the more vaunted Duomo, the Basilica di San Fidele still serves its neighborhood congregation, and in many ways offers a more authentic experience. The Romanesque interior is dark and atmospheric, but full of interesting frescoes and mosaics. Casual visitors put off...More

There was nothing about this church that sets in apart from the multiple of churches in Italy extremely dark inside.

The church itself, despite its history, would only rate a 3 star review from me. I found it dark and frankly not that interesting, with one exception. There was a depiction of purgatory that was the only one I can ever recall seeing in a...More

This church is in the old town of Como and is built in the 12th century. Although smaller and older than Duomo, it is definitely worth visiting when in Como.

The church of San Fedele is smaller, but much older than the later Duomo. It has a different kind of elegance, including more interesting floors, and other features that you do not see in later churches. The unique inferno sculpture is always startling to see.

It is a gem in the middle of the city. My wife and I frequented the square twice on our visit. You will also be pleased with the affordable wine bars nearby.
