We had a spare day and decided to go there. it's not top on the list of things to do but what a great place. The towers were not dissimilar to those in San Gimmmiano ....what a great vibe.

Bergamo's Citta Alta(High Town) is just lovely. We had a few hours stopover and took the bus(€4.60 each return) from the airport.Last stop is in the old city. Tickets at the Tourist Information to the right at Arrivals. A few warnings-trip can take 30-40 minutes...More

The old city in Bergamo is a must see if you are visiting the area. They have English speaking tours which are entertaining and informative and free.

what about Città Alta ? Bergamo is my town, the walled medieval city is incredible, lots of restaurants, bars and the streets are lovely with boutiques and shops. Spectacular views and history that you can touch with your own hands !

if you get off the train at bergamo,leave the station and walk strait up the main road,you will see it in front of you,only a 10 or 15 minute walk
