We visited in November and the place was beautifully quiet. Still hotels and restaurants available. Great pace of life

Santa Margherita is a beautiful port city and a nice walk/run to Portofino. It was not crowded and had many nice restaurants and bars along the waterfront.

We stopped here on are way to portofino and had lunch. The views are magnificent and the town is very elegant with a beautiful beach and crystal clear water seems like a great place to spend an hour or a week if you have to...More

This is the place to. Indeed SML can easily be reached by train from Genova, and invites you to enjoy one of its cafes or stroll around the shops, both for sure. Plan enough time, so you can also visit Portofino. Despite its fame, there...More

A beautiful seaside resort on the Italian Riviera. The residents we encountered were all extremely friendly and even though we were visitors, we were never made to feel as such. Although it is a small town, there is much to do, what with walks through...More

Santa Margherita Ligure gets a “10” in my book. Small town tucked around a charming harbor, lovely shops and really wonderful restaurants. It may be the gateway to the Cinque Terra but it’s so worth a relaxing visit all in itself. You will find the...More

We had a car and found that very easy but spoke to people who used the train and they loved it? If you have the time then suggest train as you get to see more and no worries of parking?!

We went on honeymoon it's very traditional and quieter which is why we loved it. I would chose more city or coastal
