Lovely Church...local flavour

This cathedral is likely not the grandest in Italy, but it was in keeping with the city. Authentic, friendly, easy to get around. Plus the inside was expected, fabulously ornate.

Nice church, but in a country filled with magnificent churches and cathedrals, this one is way down the list.

The Cathedral of Udine is the city's most important and imposing church. It is situated in the Piazza Duomo, a few steps from the main streets of Udine's city centre. It was built in 1236. The Cathedral interior is dominated by baroque style. Thanks to the eighteenth-century reform, the interior architecture was made more gorgeous. The outside of the catherdral... More

The architecture of this church are mesmerising. The ornaments and the outside of the cathedral remind me a little bit of the church of San Antiono di Padua in Padova. The lighting is amazing and the silence beautiful. The acoustics are great and they have two beautiful organs. It is really worth visiting.

This is a large medieval cathedral whose interior was redecorated by Tiepolo (amongst others ) in the 18th century. There are a lot of rather over the top murals and gilt decorations - impressive but oppressive. The bell tower is separate and round the back of the building. It was nice and cool inside - welcome relief from the dust... More

When visiting an Italian town, it is in the cards, that there will be at least one or maybe more breathtaking churches ready to visit. Udine is no exception. The main church of Udine, the Cathedral (Duomo), is overwhelming in its expanse and beauty. Instead of describing the experience extensively, I have added some pictures. These say more than a... This is the main duomo in a city with many churches. It is grand and beautiful. When we attended Sunday Mass, there was a wonderful all-male choir singing the hymns and the prayers during the service. Like most of the churches in Italy, the pews and kneelers are not geared for comfort, so you may want to sit in the... More

We stayed in Udine just for one night in our way to Venice. We went to Mass to the Cathedral and were nicely surprise with it, actually with the whole city.

there in not anything particularly special except for a side chapel inside of the cathedral on the right side, with some painting of Tiepolo. to be honest, they didn't really captured my attention, but you remain to admire and to observe since they are Tiepolo's paintings
