This is a truly gorgeous area of coastline, at its best at sunset. Tree clad hills cascade down to the blue waters of the Gulf and if you head up to one of the many viewpoints on the Carso the panoramas are spectacular. The coast is dotted with a series of small villages. Lovely.

As you go along the golfo, you get this amazing vista of the Adriatic with glimpses of fabulous villas and the fairy castle of Miramare.

Strolling by this place, my impression was to be in the Adriatic coast riviera: kids everywhere playgrounds for all ages, places in which all people can relax and get together. We had fun and discovered a very interesting place not far from the city but very peculiar. VERY KINDER FRIENDLY

When thinking of Italy, most tourists still only think of the standards (Florence, Rome, Venice), and so few realize that close to Venice (less than 90 minutes) Trieste is full of surprises. The gulf is great. To see it from the water, just take one of those little ferries that go from Trieste to Sistiane, and you have a great experience, and not too costly. Landscape, the carso and scenery are great, and then go to discover the centuries auf Austro-Habsburgian history in the city, and do not miss the little villages along the coast and in the carso: Many of them have a Slovenian-Austrian feeling, most of all the little wine bars. Do not miss!

This is a truly gorgeous area of coastline, for me reminiscent of the Amalfi coast at its best. Tree clad hills cascade down to the blue waters of the Gulf and if you head up to one of the many viewpoints on the Carso the panoramas are spectacular. The coast is dotted with a series of small local resorts and marinas with a great selection of restaurants all easily accessible from the main road.

There's a ferry to Muggia that does about five round trips a day taking 35 minutes roughly and costs 4.25€ one way and less round trip. It's a nice harbor view of the city and you can bus your way back to the Trieste Centrale train station on bus 20 for 1.25€ taking about the same amount of time.

I didn't go much close but the waters and the city looked amazing from the road above. There are many parking spots and stopover places on the road that follows the Trieste coastline. The views are amazing from here.
