It's an all right free beach, easy to reach with public transport. It is not too comfortable, few toilets and not in the best shape, few and uncomfortable stairs to the sea. But for a few hours, it's OK.

Difficult parking on weekends but somehow always manage to get a spot.....Beautiful view of the city, convenient kiosks with snacks and drinks....and every few meters the historical half circle changing coves with free showers and wc....The water is usually quite clean, especially for being so close to a major town. I suppose because the shipping business ain't what it used to be....The harbor is pretty quiet.

One of the group took a windsurf lesson from one of the teachers at Surf Trieste Team. He was most impressed by the style and attitude of the teacher. He also had a couple of sessions on his own and thoroughly enjoyed the experienc.

Barcola is a very popular spot all along its length. There is road side parking and a few car parks, but these fill up quickly so a bus/walking/cycling may be better, especially in the afternoon when the locals arrive. There is no "beach", but a long, wide promenade, rocks and a tree-shaded strip that people lie on. There are ladders into the water, which can have some rubbish and sea weed floating in it close to the shore, but that does not seem to put the many swimmers off.

Yes there is precious little sand at this beach but it is free and a great place to swim, sun bathe, catch up on reading or do people watching. Some rest room facilities and changing rooms, snack bars and drinking water. Nice views of the city skyline as well as Miramare Castle. Limited parking. Heavy traffic going by detracts a bit from the tranquility of the area. There are snack bars along the sea and others across the street as well as ice cream shops and restaurants of varying prices. Great place for a run. A popular picnic point although no picnic tables provided. Easily reached by bus from downtown.

Barcola is a suburb of Trieste and is a nice place for a walk to enjoy the sun and the shore, but there is no beach, some of the restaurants look nice and authentic

After travelling through Croatia, we’ve come to expect ‘beaches’ on the rocks, and this beach definitely delivered. The water was warm, the access to the water was easy and if you want shade or a beverge, both are available.

We walked the way back from Miramare to Trieste - it takes a good two hours, but on a Sunday the promenade is buzzing with life, places for coffee or aperol spritz and small restaurants to eat smaller or larger dishes. If the walk gets too long the bus number 6 runs regularly from here back to the station.

It is a nice place to go alone for a walk or with company. It offers a nice view of Trieste and you can breath clean air away from the city center daily noise. Highly recommended. To get take the the Bus No. 6, it goes back and forth many times so do not worry and enjoy your time there.
