Reconstructed cemetery
Apr 2019 • Couples
It's a great reconstruction, but a lot of it is definitely not original and it's not always easy to tell which parts are. Still worth the walk out if you're in Aquileia.

Beautifully reconstructed Roman graveyard
Jun 2017 • Friends
Beautifully reconstructed Roman graveyard is worthy to visit and it is not far from centre of the city by walk. The place is so quiet even today.

quiet, peaceful, out of the way
Aug 2015 • Family
this attraction should really be considered part of the ensemble of open-air roman relicts (the mausoleum of Cancia, the river port, the roman houses, the forum) that dot the Aquileia landscape, and I have rated it for the ensemble.
However Trip Advisor gives one entry to each of the smaller attractions, so I will review it as a self-standing unit. In that configuration, I would rate it only as 2 star, since it is a rather small area, with no explanatory plaques and it consists mostly of a jumble of old stones and funerary containers. The one sculpture that is present is really a copy (the original is at the museum, see separate review) and let’s be thankful for that, since some modern-day vandal chopped off the head of statue. I just hope he/she got the proper comeuppance when tried to sell the ‘roman’ artifact. The sepolcreto lies off one of the side street in Aquileia, at the end of a short country lane, about 1 meter below the modern ground level. I do not remember any sign directing to it, so navigate via the tourist map that you picked up at the visitors’ center. There is no security, which means you are free to cross the barriers and roam around and between the stones as you like. The settings is very quiet and the grassy banks overlooking the sepolcreto invite to sit down and enjoy a peaceful moment.
