Impressive Roman Arch
Nov 2019
Beautiful Arch of Augustus ( Arco d'Augusto ), together with the Tiberius Bridge, is one of the oldest Roman symbols of Rimini, as well as a fundamental reference point for the whole city. The monument is in fact located in the historic center, at the end of the Corso d'Augusto, which crosses the entire center until it reaches the Tiberius bridge. It has four shields or round portraits from Roman times, in which the four deities are depicted: Jupiter, recognizable by the lightning symbol; Apollo, depicted with zither and crow; Neptune, recognizable by the trident and the dolphin, and finally the Goddess of Rome, represented with the sword and the weapon trophy. A wonderful example of Roman history that we can enjoy.

Ancient Arch
Sep 2019
A magnificent Roman arch at the entrance to the historic old town of Rimini.

Having been to Rome and seen and absorbed the history from the Via del Corso, the old Via Flaminia, which makes its way right up through Italy to Rimini, has a magical feeling when you think of the Roman soldiers marching all that way……

When we see these ancient buildings everyday we do tend to take them for granted without realising the importance and history that they give us today.

To some it maybe just the entrance to the market, but it has so much more significance and is the oldest surviving Roman arch in Italy, being more than 2000 years old.

A must see if in the area. Leads into the centre of Rimini and a good photo opportunity. See this, then walk to Tiberius Bridge for a bit of 2000+ Roman history!

We passed under - and by - the Arc of Augustus - several times during our biking tours round Rimini. It's an imposing structure that guards the entrance to centro storico (Rimini's old town). Go through it and walk around the town's squares and along its streets - and imagine a historic place just a bit younger than Rome.

In the center of town you can see Arco d’Augusto. The two thousand years old arch is a testament to the importance of Rimini a long time ago. Can be viewed while driving by it.

So so

Great for historical purposes. But up against other Roman artifacts this is pretty mundane. The square near here is quite plain also. Rimini is all about the huge beach area.

The arch in the city is not something special but worth it to see when you are anyway downtown in Rimini.
