Nice walk, quite park
Feb 2020 • Couples
A park with an history, used to be in bad shape, accessible to cars, now is pleasent and quite. At the entrance, on the right, the ancient Palazzo Ducale, now a police station. At the end, a big basin. Good place to rest after strolling for the city center.

Peace, quiet and free wifi
Oct 2019
Just lovely. A stroll through this park at any time of year is an utter joy. It is beautifully designed and maintained, with broad walkways that children can run or ride their bikes on. Good place for a picnic, too. And there's a duckpond and fountains to boot. Very central and easy to get to. Don't miss it.

Free Park with Lake & Palace
May 2019
We planned an easy day trip to Parma from Bologna (under an hour by train). The park is not a must-see like the Cathedral or Baptistery but we enjoyed strolling through it and if you are doing a full day trip, I'd recommend including it in the itinerary.
It’s easy to get to & entry is free. From the Pilotta Palace, cross the river and you’ll see the big black iron entrance gates in front of you.
The paths are wide, flat and even - easy for pushchairs and a very good space for small children to run around in.

Features include:
• A man-made lake with a small island in the middle and a mystery sculpture the Fontana del Trianon, made more mysterious by the fact that it is overgrown and partially hidden. Very picturesque.
• Turtles and fish – the lake is absolutely teeming with them. Some of the fish were the size of my arm and actually leap out of the water
• The Duke’s Palace - a pretty creamy coloured palazzo which was once home to Napoleon’s second wife, Marie Louise who left her home of Vienna to marry him when she was just 18. The only downside is that you can’t go inside because it is now used as offices and apartments for the Carabinieri but you can wander right up to it.
• Long avenues of shady trees, which were first planted in the mid 1500s and are very pleasant in heat of summer

Parco Ducale in Parma
Sep 2019
This is a beautiful well landscaped park in the city center. The many families doting on their young children was touching. Very peaceful after the Saturday market.

Expansive garden
Sep 2019
Summer playground of the royals in the past. Royal residences now converted to government buildings are in the park. Park is quiet and not too many visitors. Great for a stroll or jog during the day. Like any public parks, we did not cut through the park at night to return to our hotel.

For those quiet moments

If you want to have a short break, to enjoy a walk or even a picnic then look no further as this park, just a short 10 minute walk from the city centre, allows you to reenergize. It helps us to appreciate the beauty of nature in it's simplest forms.
