Unfriendly staff and cold reception
Jul 2017 • Family
We stopped by this stadium in July hoping to get a glimpse of the stadium or at least some souvenir from the fan shop. But the stadium seemed to be closed off, and when I approached what looks like the front office (with a closed door; see picture below) of the club, a lady's voice came from the intercom. She spoke perfect English and informed me, in a rather cold and impatient way, that the stadium is closed and so is the gift shop. I got the impression that she was bothered by my visit and was eager to ward me off, through the intercom. This was one of the very few unpleasant interactions I had when I was traveling in Italy. Also a dark contrast to my experience visiting the Parma F.C. stadium and the Bologna F.C. stadium where I met super friendly staff; at Parma the staff even took me on a mini tour even though the stadium was closed for maintenance and the shop was closed as well.

A good back up to watch football

This is worth considering if you fancy taking in a football match when staying in Bologna or sarrounding area. Modena FC play in the Serie B( Second division), The stadium is very close to Modena train station under a 10 minutes walk. Tickets are affordable starting at about 12 euros behind the goal to 26 euros on the half way line. The food served inside the ground is very limited but there are a few bars and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk of the stadium plus there are a couple of burger type vans by the ticket office. Don't forget to have your passport or photo ID with you when purchasing a ticket.
