The main square of the area outside the Duomo is surrounded by forgettable bars and cafes but is a pleasure to stroll around in nice weather

We were walking the shopping streets of Modena & found this attractive piazza. Not a huge amount to see but plenty of shops & restaurants in the streets running off it.

Not far from the markets this piazza is typically beautiful, of note on the south side of the chapel is memorial to the fallen. Ceramic plaques with their images adorns the wall. Given Modena’s military connection (the Military College) it is well worth going to...More

We were lucky enough to have the Antique Fair on in the square the weekend we stayed. Disappointing as the weather on the Sunday was not so good. We sat at a bar with fabulous view of the church which is quite beautiful

The central square has small streets that lead to other squares. Just wander the limited traffic zone areas to see what you can find, making note of possible restaurant choices, if you are staying in the area.

We enjoyed walking around Piazza Grande. Lots of old buildings and statues to look at. Really enjoyed the murals on several of the buildings.
