A fortunate discovery
Feb 2019 • Couples
We chanced up this market which is held on the second Sunday of each month in the sloping, cobbled, triangular square outside the San Stefano church complex. There's lots to see, buy and enjoy here whether your taste be antique, retro or simply kitsch! Lots of interesting people to watch too from the numerous cafes and bars that surround this spectacular location.

Real nice

Walked into this market square while roaming around historic center, ended up spending about an hour walking around the stands - there’s a lot of really cool stuff sold there, I am not a pro but I would definitely recommend a visit for people who likes decorating with antiques or someone who’s looking for unique gift (with perhaps some history).

Always wanted to go

There are a few antique markets in Italy that are very well known - this one in Bologna and the one in Arezzo. I have never timed my trips right to catch either and this year I made it to the one in Bologna. It was much larger than I expected with good variety but if you are looking for a bargain you won't likely find it.

Interesting Market in a Great Location
May 2015 • Couples
To be precise, and to avoid disappointment, this market takes place on the weekend containing the second Sunday of the month, every month of the year except July and August.

It takes place in the piazza in front of Santo Stefano and surrounding streets. This is one of the most beautiful and historic areas of the city. Most of the vendors are willing to bargain on prices and you just might find a bargain if you know what you are looking for.

As described in other reviews, you can find jewellery, postcards, magazines and books, old dolls, pottery, militaria, cutlery and so on. I like the "Corriere della Sera" illustrated newspaper inserts dating back almost a hundred years. You can find one close to a birthday or other event and they cost only 10 euro.

Antique Market At Santo Stefano Piazza: A Must!
Apr 2015 • Couples
If you are lucky enough to be in Bologna during the second weekend of the month, be sure to walk over to the triangular plaza in front of Santo Stefano. Lots of interesting stalls with everything from antique buttons to pottery, linens, furniture, paintings, kitchen tins and implements, military souvenirs of past wars and conflicts, religious icons, jewelry --- a little of everything. Too much to see? Take a break at one of the outdoor cafes for espresso or gelato. Prices are good and vendors are friendly.
