Rather an odd little square which we fell over by accident. There are a couple of restaurants around it, neither inspired us to go in, and the theatre is along one side of the piazza. There are much nicer piazzas in Bologna!

This is a typical Piazza close to University campus full of young people not as touristy but lively, clean and imbued with architecture and character.

Piazza Verdi looks tame enough by day, when young people hang out in the cafes or just sit on the pavement. At night it's more threatening, with boisterous groups in the square and their shady suppliers lurking on doorsteps in the arcades. In the morning...More

If you're a tourist or new to the area and are looking for a piazza with a pleasant and authentic Bolognese vibe, head to Piazza San Francesco not here as Piazza Verdi is not for the faint hearted! It's normally full of young people drinking...More

It's a perfect place to start a Friday night fun in the city, especially during the academic year! We enjoyed a very nice bottle of wine for just 6€ and met some Bologna Uni students celebrating. Very cheerful experience.

In the centre of the university district its a great place to sit and drink and watch the people go by. Fills with students of an evening and surrounded by great porticoes.

Piazza Verdi with the Teatro Communale is a very popular square for locals and students, hanging out here for a drink and a chat, especially on weekends. at the moment, there are some reconstructions, but it does not hinder the fun.

This is a genuine warning to people wishing to visit this square in the evenings. The entire area is crawling with drug dealers, and people selling counterfeit strong spirits and other booze illegally. They are made up of gangs of aggressive men of Pakistani, Bangladeshi...More

This piazza was located close to our hotel, so we went through it every day while in Bologna. There is a nice outdoor cafe with wonderful gelato in it. There is also some nice shopping near it, but otherwise it is not a "must do"...More
