I just felt a bit let down when I came into this large square. There were. Lot of works here and the fountain was fully cornered in scaffolding. The cathedral was far ones ornate than I had expected but this turned out to be because...More

You can not visit Bologna without walking over this place and it is impressive, especially because of the facade of the cathedral

The place is the center of Bologna. Very lively, some musician giving free concert at one corner, street restaurants at one end.

An exceptional, large and vibrant place. The local Bologna town church is to one side and the Welcome (unwelcome ) centre the other. Unfortunately the Neptune fountain is being renovated at present.

We initially walked past the piazza as the main attraction the fountain of Neptune leading into the square was surrounded by scaffolding. That was disappointing, the square was a lovely sunny place to relax and watch the world go by enjoying a drink and lunch.
