You mustn't visit Bologna without paying a visit to it's heart. Lovely place to just sit and watch the city.

A fun place to have a drink and people watch. Also a great place to start your tours of the city. Easy walking in all directions with lots to do, see and eat.

Liked the area very much. Was disappointed that the Neptune fountain was closed for renovation. If you want something different Bologna is more of a medieval city. The tourist center was very helpful. I made use of the 48 hour pass (Welcome Bologna) to explore the city. It has a vast assortment of museums and churches to see. The Welcome... More

I think that most visitors will experience an intake of breath when rounding a corner to find laid before them a magnificent square. I was fortunate to see it empty, then full of community dancers and then a market. Surrounded by cafes it's a place to wile away some downtime.

Nice relaxed atmosphere. A good place to watch the world go by while you have a coffee or a spritz in one of the cafes.

Un avoidable since it is the most popular plaza in bologna. At night folks sit at the church steps- chatting, playing music. Near a lot of shops, Bars, and restaurants.

In the centre of Bologna you will find Piazza Maggiore. From here you will find lots of lanes with shops and excellent restaurants . A lovely buzz during the day and attraction with all the restaurants and cafes in the evening . Well worth the visit

It was my absolute favourite spot in Bologna. Always busy, always full of life. Take a moment to sit down on the stairs of Basilica San Petronio and just watch the people.
