Nice landmarks
Aug 2020
We just came for a quick look. We had our Bulldog with, so we didn't climb up (at least I have an excuse).

But even from the ground the two Towers are quite the sight. Well, the Asinelli Tower is a bit more impressive, with just a little short of 100m in height.
The Garisenda Tower is interesting as well though, mostly because it is quite visibly slanting. Talking about a leaning tower.

Surely great landmarks in a fascinating city. Just a quick walk away from the Piazza Maggiore.

It's a long long way up a very narrow old staircase

If you are unfit or have any fear of heights or confined spaces, avoid this tower. The climb is very steep and the stair treads in many places narrow and at an angle. All that said, the view from the top is wonderful. Buy your ticket in advance from the tourist centre at the central piazza.

Great way to see Bologna
Sep 2020
Booked online (just €5 each). Almost 500 steps to the top, all wooden steps, really is worth it for the view but you need to be a bit fit. Well worth the effort.

You can do it!

I was afraid I would not be able the make the stairs because of a lung problem I have. I walked the 499 steps very, very, very, slowly up and it was totally okay. One can take his time!
The view from above is breathtaking. The employee are very aware of Covid 19 and take all measurements!

A great view and a workout!

Bags of character in this medieval tower. The steps feel like they will never end but the view at the top is worth it. Helpful staff and good management of social distancing at the moment. Reasonable value for money.

Only one tower you can access in Bologna
Aug 2020 • Couples
The ticket is 5 euros an right now you can climb only one tower in Bologna.
There are specific times when you can access and you can only be on top for less than 15 minutes

Worth the climb
Aug 2020 • Couples
It so worth the climb but 498 steps so not for the faint hearted. Book online for 5 euro as number limited due to social distancing.

Hard work but worth it
Jul 2020 • Couples
This was my favourite activity in Bologna. It is €5pp or €3pp for concessions. You have to pre-book a time slot online to get your tickets. I recommend going at the earliest time at 10am in the Summer because it’s the coolest part of the day. Every so often there is a platform where you can rest. It is a lot of steps and it’s hard work but the view from the top is so worth it and it felt like a massive achievement.

Don't miss it

If you visit this lovely city, it's absolutely important to go up to the towers. Just 399 steps; perfect to show how sporty you are and at th end you can see a great landscape of the city. Don't miss it!

A must in Bologna
Aug 2019
The ancient city walls of Bologna were apparently constructed of selenite, and the base of these towers is, too. The selenite crystals sparkle when you look at it at a certain angle. The view from the top is fantastic, of course. My advice is to climb the tower after you've seen some of the city, so you'll be able to recognise the places you've visited from the top.
