Since 1999 offering Market-to-Table day class, half day classes, 3 night courses. As my classes are for very small numbers they fill up quickly and the first months to fill are April/May and September/October so plan ahead! I offer home cooking in a well air-conditioned home kitchen making updated, well plated, traditional Italian meals and my apartment is right in the heart of the historic city. Beginners, experienced cooks, professional chefs, families with children all welcome! I do my utmost to give you a memorable day and a great culinary experience and teach all the classes personally. And if you or your travelling partner/s don't fancy cooking, I offer a morning market food tour ending in a light lunch to introduce you to Bologna, its history and its food. And an unusual evening tour too, just email to ask!

We had a wonderful time with Carmelita. She takes you food shopping first, showing you all the great stores in the center of Bologna and telling you about how the local eating habits influenced the history. Then we made pasta from scratch - the perfect day in Bologna!

Hey. I ordered along with another friend an Italian cooking workshop, from "cook Italy". Met us a lovely woman, very nice named Carmelita. Carmelita started the tour in the vegetable market of Bologna, explaining and describing the variety and colorful vegetables. Then some various Delis, while providing important tips (who also should stay away from ...) while shopping for cooking... More

Carmelita instructed us precisely on how to create the best pasta and gnocchi dishes from scratch. I would highly recommend adding this class to your visit to Bologna!

I had a great time to learn the best Italian cooking. She is not only a great cooking teacher with multi linguistic skills but also her teaching method was just amazing. I am the oriental origin but I wasn't afraid of her cooking class with other people I never met. At the end of lesson we felt like we were... More

I am visiting Bologna for 4 days and have decided to do a private cooking class with Carmelita. This has been such a wonderful experience that I will take home for the rest of my life. Firstly we meet at Mercato di Mezzo where she will show me the best meat, vegetables, coffee, chocolate etc. We then go back to... More

This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Bologna. We wanted to explore and eat our way through Bologna and this is by far the best way to do it. Years worth of Bologna foodie knowledge is imparted to those who only have a few hours. Carmelita has timed the pace of the day perfectly from the food shopping... More

One of the great things about traveling is the opportunity to enjoy culture and food. Often these are separate experiences, but what's great about a class with Carmelita is that it is all wrapped up into one fun, enlightening and ulifting package. Bologna is a wonderful city that retains food and market traditions that have not changed very much across... More

I did a one on one cooking class with Carmelita. We visited the markets, coffee shops, delis, chocolate shop and many more and I just thoroughly enjoyed experiencing this part of Bologna. Carmelita's knowledge of food is excellent and she was wonderful answering all my questions. We did two delicious pasta dishes, and had a lot of fun. It was... More

I always complained about how expensive italian food was cause it was just "dough and sauce." After going through Carmelita's pasta making short class I can see why. Three or four hours of mixing egg with flour and flattening out the dough! Wow! It was a great learning experience and we made tasty dishes. Wish I had time for a... More

Carmelita was a fantastic host from start to finish with much more than just a cooking lesson. We met her in the market and she treated us to many delights of Bologna including the local cheese, meat and wine stores. The knowledge and detail provided is fantastic and a full day from 9am - 5pm was spent learning, tasting and... More
