Good place to start the visit of the city
Aug 2020
We started here our visit of Urbino to enjoy the skyline of of the city. In the park is situated an old fort which can be visited for 3 euros but doesn't have much to see other then a nice view from the ramparts.

Great view over the old town of Urbino

The best place if you want to have a great view over the city, and not have to walk too far. You see the ducal palace and the back side of the cathedral, as well as all the towers. In the rather small park there is also a fort, only open in "summer", which I believe starts after Easter.

Fine and unique view on the old city, its cathedral and Ducal palace

a nice walk to get there and a stunning view not only upon this world heritage city, but also upon the Appenins Alps which dominate the environment with their 1800m+ peaks capped with snow. Just awesome.

Wonderful view...

From the "Fortezza" as it is called, you have a wonderful view over Urbino, the Duke palace and the Duomo. Families come to let the kids play and there is a bar that helps surviving the hot summer. The play ground for kids and overall the whole area is not particularly well maintained, but it is anyway worth climbing up the hill for the view. Dogs are not allowed to enter the area, but there are dogs around.

We weren't disappointed, because the view over Urbino is spectacular from the parco.
This is good for the end of the visit of Urbino, because the surroundings are not that interesting.

It’s a Climb....

But worth it for the view back toward the city and the Ducal Palace. It’s also a spot for young lovers to make out a bit and the scent of marijuana may be in the air as well. Don’t be put off by those things, though. Savory the greenery and the urban vista.

Taking in the views from this park adds a great dimension to a visit to Urbino.

The road up to to it is very steep, but just bear in mind that the views will be worth it and go up at a steady plod! There is a cafe at the top before you enter the park. I must say that 'park' is rather a flattering name for it - it's more a patch of grass. But what it does have in abundance is glorious views. You can look down on the historic town and take some of the best shots of the Palazzo Ducale that you will find. Above all, you can gaze at the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and see where so many Renaissance artists derived the inspiration for the backgrounds to their paintings.
